Afghanistan visa for UAE residents

We check your passport against the Afghan consulate's rules and tell you honestly what is possible. The e-visa checker blocked UAE residence on our test, and the UK advises against all travel.

We check the rules first; UAE residence blocked e-visa

Last updated

Afghanistan is not a simple visa case for people living in the UAE. When we tested the Afghan e-visa checker on , a UAE country of residence was marked not eligible for every passport we tried. The UK advises against all travel to the country. We read the rules against your passport and tell you what is possible. We do not promise a visa.

What the e-visa is

The online e-visa sits on the eAfghans portal, which says its content is reviewed and authorised by the Consulate General of Afghanistan in Dubai. It issues one type: a single-entry tourist e-visa.

  • Stay of up to 30 days from the date of entry.
  • Entry only through Kabul International Airport.
  • Expires 90 days after the date of issue.
  • Other visa types: the portal sends you to the nearest Afghan consulate or embassy.

What happened when we tested residence

The portal has an eligibility checker. Its rule is that you are eligible only if both your nationality and your country of residence are unrestricted. We ran it on the date above.

In plain terms, a UAE resident has no online route on that page today. Whether the consulate in Dubai handles a case on paper, we cannot say. Ask it before you pay anyone.

What the UK says

The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office advises against all travel to Afghanistan. The page was updated on . It says there is no British Embassy in Afghanistan, and the FCDO cannot give in-person consular help. If you hold a British passport, that matters for any emergency. Other governments publish their own advice. Read the one for your passport before you spend money on a ticket.

The consulate in Dubai

The Consulate General of Afghanistan in Dubai lists working hours of 8:30 to 14:00 Monday to Thursday and 8:30 to 12:00 Friday, Dubai time. The Afghan foreign ministry says its embassies and consulates issue passports, ID cards and passport renewals to Afghan nationals, and Afghan visas to foreign nationals in all categories under its regulations.

If you hold an Afghan passport

An Afghan citizen does not need a visa for Afghanistan, so your questions are different: a valid passport, a valid UAE residence and your Emirates ID. If you need a passport renewal or an ID card, the consulate is the place. Our Dubai visa for Afghans page covers the other direction, an Afghan passport holder who wants to visit the UAE. We have not verified a list of countries that are visa free for Afghan passports living in the UAE, so we do not give one. The visa-free countries for UAE residents page shows the rules we have checked.

Documents the portal asks for

  • Passport biodata page, valid for at least six months.
  • Colour photo, 45 mm by 35 mm, on a white background.
  • A copy of your national identity card or residence permit, if you have one.
  • A live photo for the identity check.
  • Accommodation proof, optional.
  • For a child under 18, a copy of a parent's passport.

Why we may say no

We will not file a request that the portal marks as blocked for your residence. We will not suggest that you pay a third party who promises a visa in a few days. If your trip is for work, aid or family, the route and the risk are different from a tourist trip, and the consulate has to answer for your case.

How it works with us

Send your passport page and UAE residence details on WhatsApp or the form here. An adviser reads them against the portal's rules and the consulate's published information, and tells you in writing what is possible. If there is a route, you get one total price before you pay, and the team prepares the documents and follows the file. We are a private visa service, not the Afghan authorities. They decide any visa.

If a visa is refused, the fee paid to the authority is not returned. Before you pay us, the adviser says in writing which part of our total, if any, comes back.

Get one total price

For an Afghanistan visa question from a UAE resident: send the traveller's passport country, where they are now and the dates. A visa adviser replies with the right visa, the documents and one total price, fees included, before anything is filed or paid.

Questions people ask

Can a UAE resident get an Afghanistan e-visa?

What kind of Afghanistan e-visa exists?

Only a single-entry tourist e-visa, valid for up to 30 days from entry, with entry only through Kabul airport. It expires 90 days after it is issued. For other visa types the portal sends you to the nearest Afghan consulate or embassy.

Does the UK advise against travel to Afghanistan?

Yes. The FCDO advises against all travel to Afghanistan, in a page updated on 30 July. It says there is no British Embassy in Afghanistan and the FCDO cannot give in-person consular help. Other governments publish their own advice.

Where is the Afghan consulate for people in the UAE?

There is a Consulate General of Afghanistan in Dubai. It authorises the eAfghans portal and lists working hours of 8:30 to 14:00 Monday to Thursday and 8:30 to 12:00 Friday. The foreign ministry says its missions issue visas to foreign nationals.

Can you guarantee an Afghanistan visa?

No. We cannot promise a visa for Afghanistan. We can read the portal rules against your passport and residence, prepare documents, and tell you what the consulate says. We will not file a request that the portal itself shows as blocked.
