A US visa appointment in Dubai is booked online in a fixed order: first the DS-160 form, then a profile on the State Department appointment system, then the fee, then a slot at the US Consulate General Dubai or the US Embassy Abu Dhabi. Most applicants attend in person. Current wait times are only on the official wait time tool, so check it before you plan travel.
This page is about the booking and the day itself. For the visa rules, documents and fees, read our US visa from Dubai guide first.
The booking order, and why it matters
People lose weeks by doing the steps in the wrong order. The system will not show you a calendar until two things exist: a submitted DS-160 with its confirmation number, and a paid application fee linked to your profile.
So the real start date of your US trip plan is the day you finish the DS-160. Give yourself a quiet evening for it. The form asks for your travel history over the past years, your previous US visits, your parents' and spouse's details, and your job in Dubai with the employer's address and your monthly salary. Typos in the passport number are the classic reason a booking fails to match.
Each person needs their own DS-160, children too. The appointment system usually lets you group family members so you attend together.
Fees you meet while booking
| Item | When you pay | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| B1/B2 application fee | Before the calendar opens | Shown on travel.state.gov and in the booking system |
| Visa integrity fee | Reported as charged on issuance, not at booking | Check travel.state.gov |
| Courier or pick-up of the passport | Chosen during booking | Shown in the booking system |

The application fee is tied to you, not to a date. If you reschedule, you keep the same payment. The receipt has a validity period, so book within it.
What Dubai agencies charge
Dubai visa agencies publish about AED 900 to AED 1,760 for US B1/B2 visa help, which includes appointment booking (published prices of 5 Dubai agencies, checked ). At least one says the consular fee is extra. No agency can make the consulate offer you an earlier date.
Wait times: where to look
Search results are full of old screenshots. Ignore them. The State Department's global visa wait time tool lets you pick "Dubai" or "Abu Dhabi" and shows the current estimate for a visitor visa interview. It is an estimate, not a booked date. Slots free up when others cancel, so an earlier date can appear after you book.
Two habits help:
- Book the first slot you can accept, then watch for earlier dates and move if one appears. Mind any reschedule limit.
- If one post shows a long wait, look at the other. Both serve UAE residents.
What to bring on the day
- Passport, plus old passports with earlier US visas.
- Printed appointment confirmation.
- DS-160 confirmation page with the barcode.
- UAE residence visa and Emirates ID.
- Supporting papers in a simple folder: salary certificate or employer letter, recent bank statements, invitation from relatives or a US company, hotel plan.
Hand over papers only if the officer asks. A thick folder pushed across the counter does not help.
Leave behind what you do not need. Security at the door restricts electronics and large bags, and the post publishes the list. Arrive at the time on your letter, not hours early.
What happens at the interview
- Security and document check. Staff confirm your appointment and passport.
- Fingerprints. Taken electronically at a window.
- Interview. Short, at a counter. The officer asks why you are going, for how long, who pays and what you do in Dubai. Answer briefly and truthfully, in your own words.
- Decision. Usually given on the spot. You hear one of three things: approved, refused under section 214(b), or a 221(g) notice that the case needs more documents or administrative processing.
If approved, the officer keeps your passport for the visa to be printed. It comes back through the delivery option you chose. With a 221(g) you get a sheet that says what to send and where. A 214(b) refusal means you can apply again later with a new DS-160 and a new fee.
Processing time after the appointment
There is no single published figure for UAE passport returns. It depends on printing and courier. Administrative processing has no fixed timeline. Do not book non-refundable flights until the passport with the visa is in your hand.
Common reasons appointments go wrong
- DS-160 name or passport number different from the passport.
- Booking with an expired passport, then renewing before the interview without updating the profile.
- Arriving without the DS-160 confirmation page.
- Answers at the window that do not match the form, especially job title and salary.
How it works with us
Message us on WhatsApp with your passport copy and your travel window, or fill in the form on this page. A visa adviser checks the DS-160 answers with you before you submit, so the booking matches your passport the first time. You get one total price on WhatsApp before you pay. The team sets up your profile, books a slot at Dubai or Abu Dhabi, watches for earlier dates if you want, and prepares you for the questions at the window. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service with no link to the embassy, and only the consular officer decides your visa.
The State Department fee stays with the government after a refusal. Your adviser sets out in writing, before payment, what part of our total, if any, comes back if you are refused.
