If you live in Dubai and your passport needs a visa for Britain, you apply for a UK Standard Visitor visa online, then give fingerprints and a photo at the UK visa application centre in the UAE. The government fee is GBP 135 for up to 6 months. A decision usually comes within 3 weeks of that appointment, or faster if you pay for priority.
Visa or ETA: what your passport needs
Your UAE residence visa does not change the UK rule. Your nationality does. Two groups apply from Dubai:
- Visa nationals. Your passport is on the UK visa list, so you need the Standard Visitor visa on this page.
- Visa-free nationals. You need a UK ETA instead, an electronic travel authorisation that costs GBP 20 and covers visits of up to 6 months each.
British and Irish citizens need neither. The same goes for anyone who already has UK permission to live, work or study. If you are unsure which list you are on, gov.uk has a nationality checker before the application starts.

You pay the UK fee online in pounds when you submit the form. Priority and super priority are add-ons to the visa fee, not separate visas, and they are only offered where the visa centre runs them. Optional extras sold at the centre, like document scanning or courier return, are priced by the centre operator. We could not read those prices from an official page, so we do not list them.
What Dubai agencies charge
Dubai visa agencies publish about AED 845 to AED 1,800 for help with a 6-month UK visitor visa (published prices of 5 Dubai agencies, checked ). Some of those prices appear to include the GBP 135 UK fee and some are assistance fees only, so always ask what a quote covers.
Picking a 2, 5 or 10-year visa
A long-term visa is a bet on your future travel. You still stay a maximum of 6 months per visit, and a refusal costs you the larger fee. A first-time UK applicant with a short travel history usually starts with 6 months. Someone with past UK visas used correctly, a stable job in Dubai and family or business ties in Britain has a better case for 2 years or more.
Documents for UAE residents
The officer wants to see that you are a genuine visitor: you will leave at the end of the trip, you can pay for it, and your plans add up. A strong file from Dubai usually holds:
- Passport valid for the whole trip, plus old passports with past visas.
- UAE residence visa and Emirates ID, to show you live here legally.
- Employer letter from your Dubai company with your job title, salary and approved leave dates, or a trade licence if you own a business.
- Recent personal bank statements showing salary credits and enough money for the trip.
- Hotel booking, or an invitation letter and address if you stay with family.
- A rough day plan and a return flight reservation.
- For children travelling without both parents, a consent letter from the parent who stays behind.
Upload or bring only what supports your story. Large unexplained cash deposits just before you apply raise questions, not confidence.
Processing time
gov.uk says the earliest you can apply is 3 months before you travel. After the visa centre appointment, a decision usually takes up to 3 weeks with standard service. Priority aims for 5 working days and super priority for the end of the next working day. These are targets, not promises. Complex files can take longer, and the clock runs from the appointment, not from the day you paid online.
Common refusal reasons and how to avoid them
- Weak ties to the UAE. A residence visa that expires soon after the trip, or a new job with no leave letter, makes the officer doubt you will return. Apply when your visa has good time left.
- Money that does not match the trip. A two-week London stay on a small balance, or funds that appeared last week, is a common problem. Show a few months of normal account history.
- Gaps between the form and the papers. Salary on the form must match the employer letter and the bank credits.
- Past refusals not declared. Always list earlier refusals for any country. Hiding one is treated far more seriously than the refusal itself.
How it works with us
You send a copy of your passport, your UAE residence visa and a line about the trip on WhatsApp, or through the form on this page. A visa adviser checks whether you need the visa or the ETA, and which length suits your history. You get one total price, confirmed on WhatsApp before you pay. The team then fills in the gov.uk form with you, books the visa centre slot, builds the document file and tracks the decision until your passport comes back. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service. UK Visas and Immigration alone decides your application.
The UK fee is not refunded by the Home Office if the visa is refused. Before you pay us, the adviser tells you in writing which part of the total, if any, comes back after a refusal.
Tips from Dubai applicants
- Book the visa centre slot as soon as your form is paid. If your dates fall in school holidays or Eid, apply near the 3-month mark.
- Keep your Emirates ID copy and residence visa page in the same file as your passport scan. Officers check both.
- If you also plan Europe, compare timings with our Schengen visa from Dubai guide, since the two applications can overlap.
- Our full list of visas from Dubai shows the other countries we help with, including the US visa from Dubai and the Canada visit visa from Dubai.
