Most UAE residents do not need a visa for Georgia. The Embassy of Georgia in the UAE says anyone holding a UAE visa or residence permit can enter and stay visa-free for 90 calendar days in any 180-day period. There is no visa fee and nothing to apply for. Your nationality does not matter here. Emirati citizens get a full year.
The rule, in the embassy's words
The Embassy of Georgia in the UAE puts it in one line: "Individuals who hold a visa or residence permit of the United Arab Emirates may enter and stay in Georgia without a visa for 90 calendar days in any 180-day period."
Two things stand out. First, it is your UAE status that qualifies you, not your passport. A Filipino nurse in Abu Dhabi, an Egyptian accountant in Sharjah and a Nigerian engineer in Dubai sit under the same rule. Second, the text says "visa or residence permit". It does not say a UAE visit visa is excluded. We would still not rely on a visit visa without asking the embassy first, since the page gives no detail on that case.
For UAE citizens there is a separate line: they "may enter and stay in Georgia without a visa for one full year".
What it costs
| How you enter | Visa fee | Stay |
|---|---|---|
| UAE residence permit or UAE visa | None, visa-free | 90 days in any 180 |
| UAE passport (Emirati citizen) | None, visa-free | One full year |
| No UAE status, passport needs a visa | e-visa fee, not readable | Set on the e-visa |

What Dubai agencies charge
Dubai agencies publish about AED 174 to AED 307 for a Georgia e-visa (published prices of 4 Dubai agencies, checked ). These are prices for an e-visa product. If you hold a valid UAE residence permit, ask any agency why you would need one before you pay, because the embassy rule says you do not.
When the visa-free rule does not help you
You fall outside it in a few real situations:
- Your residence was cancelled. You left a job, the visa was cancelled, and you are in a grace period or on a new entry permit. Your passport then decides.
- You are between visas. Renewal is in progress and you only have a receipt. Ask the embassy before you book.
- You have already used your 90 days. Long winter stays in Tbilisi add up. Days count across every trip in a rolling 180-day window.
- You want to work or study there. The visa-free stay covers visits. A job or a course is a different matter for Georgian immigration.
In these cases you look at the rule for your own passport. Some nationals then need a Georgian e-visa before they fly. Others are visa-free on their passport anyway.
Documents to carry
The embassy page lists no documents beyond the UAE status itself. These are the papers that answer the questions you are likely to get at check-in and at the border:
- Passport, valid for your whole stay.
- Emirates ID showing your residence, or the residence details on your passport file.
- Return or onward ticket.
- Hotel booking or the address where you stay.
- A bank card or some cash for your trip.
- Travel insurance, if you have it. It is useful even when not asked.
Airline staff in Dubai check visa rules before boarding. If your passport usually needs a visa for Georgia, the agent will look for your residence. Keep the Emirates ID in your hand, not in the hold bag.
How long it takes
Visa-free entry takes no processing time. You book and fly. If you need an e-visa instead, the official processing time is on the Georgian e-visa site, which we could not read. Agency pages in Dubai quote anything from a few business days to a few weeks for the e-visa product, so leave room if that is your route.
Reasons people get turned back
Refusals at the Georgian border are rare for UAE residents, but they happen. Common causes:
- Residence permit expired a few days before the flight, often missed during a job change.
- Days over the 90 in 180 limit from earlier trips.
- No clear answer about where you will stay or when you leave.
- Damaged passport, or a passport that runs out during the stay.
Check your residence end date on your Emirates ID or in the UAE ICP app before you book. That one step avoids most problems.
Tips for the trip
The embassy rule is not limited to one airport or border post, so it covers you whether you land in Tbilisi or arrive overland. If you plan Armenia on the same trip, its own residence rule is different, so read the Armenia visa for UAE residents page. For a side trip to Baku, see the Azerbaijan visa for UAE residents page, where the rules are less clear.
Thinking about Istanbul on the way? Your UAE residence does not count for Turkey. The Turkey visa for UAE residents page explains why.
How it works with us
For most residents Georgia is simple and you do not need us. You may want a second pair of eyes if your status is unusual: a residence under renewal, a cancelled visa, a long stay that may pass 90 days, or a family where one member holds a different status. Send the passport copy and your residence details on WhatsApp or through the form on this page. A visa adviser checks whether the embassy rule covers each traveller. If someone needs an e-visa instead, you get one total price before paying. The team then files it and follows up until it is issued. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service. Georgian authorities decide entry and any visa.
If an e-visa is refused, Georgia does not return its fee. Before you pay, your adviser tells you in writing which part of our total, if any, you get back in that case.
