If you live in the UAE on a residence visa, the usual way into Oman is the GCC Resident Visa from Royal Oman Police. It needs no sponsor, is single entry, and lets you stay four weeks, with one extension of one week. The catch is your job: the visa is only for professions the police accept, and the title on your UAE residence decides it.

Who the GCC Resident Visa is for

Royal Oman Police list it as visa type 29, under unsponsored visit visas. Their wording is short: it goes to foreign residents of GCC countries who visit Oman for tourism, "provided they hold professions specified by the authority."

So two things matter:

  • A valid UAE residence visa. Visit visa holders in Dubai do not qualify.
  • The profession printed on that residence. Oman reads the title on your record. An accountant listed as "clerk" is a clerk for this purpose.

The full list of accepted professions is not on a public page. It appears inside the application. Media sites have printed versions, but they are not official and they go out of date. We check your title in the live form before you pay anything.

If you hold an Omani or other GCC passport, none of this applies to you. This page is for expats.

Media reports quote a small fee in Omani rials, but Royal Oman Police do not show it on any public page we could read. You see the real amount before you pay in the eVisa form.

What Dubai agencies charge

Dubai visa agencies publish about AED 91.50 to AED 350 for an Oman visa (published prices of 6 Dubai agencies, checked ). Some of those prices are for other Oman visa types, such as a 10-day or 30-day tourist visa, and only a few say whether the government fee is inside. Ask what each one covers.

Driving across the border

A lot of Oman trips from the UAE start in a car. Media reports say the GCC Resident Visa is also given at Muscat airport and at land borders. The public Royal Oman Police page does not say this, so treat it as unconfirmed. An eVisa approved before you set off is the safer plan, mainly because a refusal at the post means turning round.

Before a road trip:

  • Ask your insurer in writing whether your UAE car policy covers Oman.
  • Keep the eVisa approval, your passport and Emirates ID together, for every person in the car.
  • Each passenger needs their own visa. Your approval does not cover your spouse or children.

Documents

  • Passport valid for your trip.
  • UAE residence visa and Emirates ID, showing the profession.
  • Recent passport photo on a plain background.
  • Hotel booking or address in Oman, in case the form or the officer asks.
  • For children and a spouse: their own passports and UAE residence copies.

Processing time

Royal Oman Police do not publish a processing time for this visa. Media reports give a few working days. Apply at least a week ahead of a planned weekend, and earlier before public holidays.

If your job is not on the list

A refusal on profession cannot be fixed by sending the same file again. Royal Oman Police offer other routes on the same portal:

  1. Tourist Visit Visa, for specified nationalities, valid for 10 days, 14 days or one month.
  2. Sponsored visas, through a company or a person in Oman.

Whether the tourist visa is open to you depends on your passport, not your UAE residence. We check that for you too.

Other refusal reasons

  • Residence about to expire, or a residence that was renewed with a new title you have not updated in the form.
  • Name differences between passport and Emirates ID, often with middle names.
  • A poor photo, such as a selfie or a cropped image.

How it works with us

Send a copy of your passport, your Emirates ID and the dates of your trip on WhatsApp, or use the form on this page. A visa adviser reads your profession and checks it against the list in the live Oman form. If it fits, you get one total price before you pay, and the team files your GCC Resident Visa and watches it until there is a decision. If it does not fit, the adviser tells you which other route your passport allows. The approved eVisa is sent to you by message. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service, not Royal Oman Police, and the police decide every application.

Royal Oman Police keep their fee after a refusal. Your adviser tells you in writing, before you pay, what part of our total comes back if Oman says no, if any.

This page is about going from the UAE to Oman. If you live in Oman and want to visit Dubai, read the Dubai visa for GCC residents page instead. For a longer Gulf trip, compare the Saudi visa for UAE residents and the Qatar visa for UAE residents. The full list is on the visas from Dubai page, and places that need no visa at all are on visa-free countries for UAE residents.

How UAE residents apply for the Oman GCC Resident Visa

  1. Check the profession on your residence

Your Emirates ID and residence visa show your job title. Oman decides on that title, not on your real duties.

  2. Open the Royal Oman Police eVisa site

Register on evisa.rop.gov.om and choose the GCC Resident Visa under unsponsored visit visas.

  3. Upload your documents

Add your passport, UAE residence and photo. The profession list shows inside the form at this point.

  4. Pay and wait for the decision

The fee is paid online. Keep the approved eVisa on your phone and a printout in the car or bag.

  5. Extend inside Oman if needed

The visa allows one extension of one week on top of the four weeks.

Get one total price

For an Oman visa for a UAE resident: send the traveller's passport country, where they are now and the dates. A visa adviser replies with the right visa, the documents and one total price, fees included, before anything is filed or paid.

Questions people ask

Do UAE residents need a visa for Oman?

Yes, unless you hold a GCC passport. Expats living in the UAE usually apply for the GCC Resident Visa on the Royal Oman Police eVisa site. It needs no sponsor, but your profession must be one the police accept.

How long can I stay in Oman on the GCC Resident Visa?

Royal Oman Police list a stay of four weeks on a single entry, with one extension of one week. If you need longer, you need a different visa type.

Where is the Oman profession list for UAE residents?

Royal Oman Police do not publish it on a public page. The list appears inside the eVisa application when you pick the GCC Resident Visa. Copies in the media exist, but they are not official, so check in the form.

Can I drive from Dubai to Oman without applying first?

Media reports say the GCC Resident Visa is also issued at land borders, but the public Royal Oman Police page does not confirm it. An approved eVisa before you drive means no surprises at the post.

What if my job title is not on the Oman list?

The same portal has other routes: a Tourist Visit Visa for specified nationalities, valid for 10 days, 14 days or one month, and sponsored visas through a person or company in Oman.

Is the Dubai and Oman Common Visa for residents?

No. Royal Oman Police describe it for people who entered Dubai on a tourist visa. If you hold a UAE residence visa, look at the GCC Resident Visa first.
