We file your Kuwait tourist visa

Last updated

To visit Kuwait from Dubai, UAE residents whose passport is not on the visa on arrival list apply for a tourist visa on the Ministry of Interior portal, kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw. It typically takes 1 to 2 business days. The entry permit is valid for 30 days from issue, so you must arrive inside that window, and you can then stay up to 90 days on a single entry.

Two dates to keep apart

People mix these up, and it costs trips.

  • 30 days: the life of the entry permit. The clock starts the day Kuwait issues it. If you have not entered Kuwait by day 30, the permit is no use and you apply again.
  • 90 days: the longest you can stay. This counts from your arrival.

So do not apply two months ahead "to be safe". Apply when your dates are firm, ideally within a couple of weeks of flying.

Kuwait does not publish one flat fee. The amount depends on your nationality, and you only see it when you reach that step.

What Dubai agencies charge

Dubai visa agencies publish about AED 179 to AED 352.50 for a Kuwait visa (published prices of 4 Dubai agencies, checked ). Most of those pages do not say whether the Kuwait fee is included, so compare total prices, not headlines.

Visa on arrival: decided by your passport

The portal lists nationalities that can get a visa on arrival in Kuwait. Among them are Australia, the UK, the US, EU states, Japan, Turkey, Georgia, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Hong Kong, plus others.

If your passport is on that list, you may not need the portal at all. If it is not, your UAE residence does not change that. Kuwait's public portal does not show a separate GCC resident visa or a rule about your job title, which is different from Qatar and Oman. We could not confirm one from official pages, so we work from the tourist visa the portal offers.

Documents for the portal

  • Passport photo page, valid at least 6 months.
  • UAE residence visa and Emirates ID.
  • Personal photo in the format the form asks.
  • Return or onward flight booking.
  • Hotel booking or the address of the person you visit in Kuwait.

Keep scans sharp and in colour. A blurred page is the easiest way to lose a day.

Processing time

The Ministry of Interior says tourist visas typically take between 1 and 2 business days. That is quick, but it is business days. Kuwaiti weekends and public holidays do not count. A Thursday night application for a Saturday flight is tight.

Why a Kuwait tourist visa can be refused

  • Passport under 6 months. Renew first.
  • Applying as a tourist for a work trip. The tourist visa does not allow work, and a job offer letter in your file sends mixed signals.
  • Details that do not match your passport, such as a missing middle name.
  • Permit expired before travel, when someone applied too early and the 30 days ran out. This is not a refusal, but the result is the same: you cannot use it.

How it works with us

Send your passport copy, Emirates ID and dates on WhatsApp, or send the form on this page. A visa adviser first checks whether your passport is on Kuwait's visa on arrival list, because then you may not need us at all. If you do need the portal, you get one total price before you pay, with the Kuwait fee for your nationality inside it. The team files on the MOI portal, times the application so the 30-day window covers your trip, and sends you the entry permit. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service. Kuwait's Ministry of Interior decides every visa.

Fees paid to Kuwait are not refunded by the ministry after a refusal. Your adviser states in writing, before payment, what part of our total, if any, you get back if the visa is refused.

Elsewhere in the Gulf

For other GCC trips from the UAE, see the Saudi visa for UAE residents, Bahrain visa for UAE residents and Oman visa for UAE residents. Countries that give visas at the airport are on visa on arrival for UAE residents. Everything else is on visas from Dubai.

Questions people ask

How long does a Kuwait tourist visa take from Dubai?

The Ministry of Interior portal says tourist visas typically take between 1 and 2 business days. Weekends and Kuwaiti public holidays are not business days, so apply earlier before them.

What does valid for 30 days mean on a Kuwait visa?

The entry permit is valid for 30 days from the date it is issued. You must land in Kuwait inside that window. Once you are in, the stay can be up to 90 days.

Can UAE residents get a Kuwait visa on arrival?

Only if your passport is on Kuwait's visa on arrival list. The portal names countries such as the UK, the US, EU states, Japan, Turkey, Georgia, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Hong Kong. A UAE residence on its own does not add you to that list.

What is the Kuwait visit visa price from Dubai?

Kuwait says fees vary by visa type and nationality and shows the amount inside the form. Dubai agencies publish service prices on top, so ask for one total before you pay anyone.

Can I work in Kuwait on a tourist visa?

No. The Kuwait tourist visa does not allow work. A job in Kuwait needs a work visa arranged through the employer, which is a different process.

Can I use the Kuwait tourist visa twice?

No. It is single entry. If you leave Kuwait and want to return, you apply for a new visa.
