Cabo Verde changed its entry rules on 1 January. Its EASE site says citizens of the countries on a published list must now get a visa before arrival, also for transit. All visitors complete an online pre-registration. We check where your passport stands and prepare the pre-registration with you.
The visa rule
The EASE traveller site says that from 1 January nationals of the listed countries must hold an entry visa, and a visa for transit or airport stopovers, before they arrive. Otherwise entry, transit or stopover can be refused. It tells travellers to contact the Cabo Verde embassy nearest their residence.
The list sits in a PDF we could not read. Media reports name countries that stay exempt. We do not use them, since only the official list counts. Send us your passport and we check it with the embassy.
The EASE pre-registration
UK government advice describes the EASE form for all visitors:
- Complete the pre-registration and pay the airport security fee (TSA) online
- Do it at least 5 days before arrival
- Bring the proof of confirmation
- From 1 July, without pre-registration or proof you pay double the TSA fee at the border
No fee amount is stated on that page, so we give none. Children travelling without parents need a signed authorisation letter in Portuguese, with the signature certified by a solicitor or notary.

Embassy
We found no Cabo Verde mission in the UAE foreign ministry directory. The page did not load for us. That is not proof that none exists. Check before you plan a visit.
From Dubai
There are no direct flights from Dubai that we can confirm, so expect a connection in Europe or Africa. The airline at your first airport checks the visa and the EASE confirmation. A passport that needs a visa for Cabo Verde also needs it for the stopover there.
