Dubai visa for Bhutanese citizens

We prepare your Dubai visit visa file and check every document before it goes in. Bhutan is on the UAE visa required list, so the e-visa must exist before you board.

We file your visit visa before you fly

Last updated

Himalayan travellers often assume a small kingdom's passport gets easy entry. For the UAE it does not. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists the Kingdom of Bhutan as visa required, before travel. For a visit, a licensed Dubai tourism company files a GDRFA tourist visa: AED 210 for 30 days or AED 315 for 60 days, single entry.

What the MOFA page gives you

One line: visa required. We found no visa on arrival for a Bhutan passport and no UAE agreement that changes this. When it changes, the MOFA exemptions page shows it first.

What it costs

Route Government fee
Tourist visa, 30 days AED 210
Tourist visa, 60 days AED 315
Relative sponsor, application AED 100 plus AED 100 per month

Paperwork from Thimphu or Paro

Bring a passport with 6 months left, a photo page scan, a photo, a return ticket and UAE-valid health insurance. GDRFA lists these as tourist visa conditions. A family visit swaps the insurance for the host's Emirates ID, residence visa and salary proof.

If a relative sponsors you

ICP sets the host's salary: AED 4,000 a month for parents, spouse and children, AED 8,000 for siblings and grandparents. A stay can be extended inside the UAE up to 120 days in total. The extension guide has the steps.

No embassy to apply at

The UAE government says its embassies do not issue tourist visas, so an embassy step does not exist for this trip. In the other direction, we found no official Bhutan page on a mission in the UAE. If you lose your passport in Dubai, ask Bhutan's foreign ministry which office helps.

Do not overstay

A late exit costs AED 50 per day, paid before you leave. Read the overstay fine guide.

How it works with us

You send the photo page of the passport and your dates. An adviser picks the visa type and quotes one total before you pay. After a yes, the team files, answers GDRFA or ICP questions and passes you the e-visa. We are a private visa service. The authorities make the decision.

When a visa is refused, the authorities keep their fees. Your adviser writes down, before payment, how much of our part comes back, if any.

Questions people ask

Do Bhutanese citizens need a visa for Dubai?

Yes. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists the Kingdom of Bhutan as visa required, with the visa needed before travel. There is no visa on arrival for a Bhutan passport.

How much is a 30-day Dubai visa on a Bhutan passport?

The GDRFA fee for a single entry tourist visa is AED 210 for 30 days and AED 315 for 60 days, filed through an accredited Dubai tourism company. Agencies add their own service fee on top.

Can a Bhutanese living in Dubai sponsor a relative from Thimphu?

Yes, if the sponsor holds UAE residence and meets the ICP salary tier. ICP asks AED 4,000 a month for first degree relatives and AED 8,000 for siblings, grandparents and similar second or third degree relatives.

Is there a Bhutan embassy in the UAE to apply at?

The UAE government says its own embassies do not issue tourist visas, and an embassy of Bhutan would not issue a UAE visa either. We found no official Bhutan page on a mission in the UAE, so check with the Bhutan foreign ministry.

What happens if a Bhutanese traveller overstays in the UAE?

The overstay fine is AED 50 per day after the permitted stay ends. Fines must be paid before you can leave or fix your status, so leave on or before the last day on the e-visa.
