Cabo Verde passport holders need a Dubai visa before they fly. The UAE foreign ministry lists the Republic of Cabo Verde as visa required, so there is no entry at the airport without one. We prepare the file for a tourist visa or a sponsored visit. GDRFA charges AED 210 for 30 days.
Pick the right visa
- Holiday or shopping trip: a tourist visa through a licensed Dubai tourism company.
- Visiting family in the UAE: a visit visa sponsored by a resident relative.
- Work: a visit visa is not a work permit. Your employer files that.

For a sponsored visit, ICP sets the host's minimum pay by relationship. First degree family: AED 4,000. Second and third degree: AED 8,000. A friend: AED 15,000.
What to gather in Praia or abroad
- Your Cabo Verde passport, at least 6 months valid
- The photo page scanned in colour, no cut corners
- A recent photo, white background
- A flight back or onward
- UAE medical cover
- For a family visit: host Emirates ID, residence visa and salary letter, and a document proving the relationship
Embassy question
We could not confirm a Cabo Verde embassy or consulate in the UAE. The UAE foreign ministry directory page for Cabo Verde failed to load when we checked in . Do not rely on us for this. Check with the Cabo Verde foreign ministry for the mission that covers the Gulf.
Flights to Dubai
There is no need to guess on routes. Most travellers from Cabo Verde connect in Europe or Africa. The airline of your first flight asks for the Dubai visa at check-in, so the e-visa must be in hand before the first leg, not before the last.
