Visa-free 90 days; we extend and file for relatives

Last updated

Cypriot citizens do not need a visa for the UAE. The UAE ministry of foreign affairs lists Cyprus as visa free, with a free multiple entry visit visa on arrival, valid six months, up to 90 days in total. For stays longer than that you extend through ICP or GDRFA. Relatives on other passports often do need a visa, and that is the part we file.

What a Cypriot gets at the airport

You walk up to the immigration desk with your passport. Nothing is bought and nothing is filed beforehand. The officer gives you a visit permit that costs nothing, allows several entries over six months and adds up to 90 days of stay. Work is not part of it. If you plan to take a job, your employer starts a work permit and residence instead.

Going past the 90 days

Extensions are paid per application. At ICP you pay AED 100 to apply and AED 500 for the extension itself. In Dubai, GDRFA lists AED 600 plus 5% VAT. Tourist visits are capped at 120 days in total, and a day over costs AED 50.

What the Cyprus embassy in Abu Dhabi does

The Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus sits in Abu Dhabi. Its own site says the consular section serves the public from Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 12:00, by appointment.

The consular services page lists the work that matters to a Cypriot in the UAE:

  • Lost travel documents in the UAE
  • Issue and renewal of biometric passports and ID cards for citizens living in the UAE
  • Certifying signatures and legalising documents
  • Transfer of remains
  • Certificates of permanent residence and exemption from military obligations
  • Citizenship registration forms, such as the birth abroad and marriage forms

The embassy is the place for a Cyprus document. It does not issue UAE visas for Cypriots, because they do not need one.

Registering for emergencies

The embassy site has a Cypriots in the UAE page with a registration form so the mission can contact you in a crisis. The foreign ministry's announcement of asks Cypriots in the region to stay vigilant, follow local authorities, register on the Connect2CY platform and call the nearest diplomatic mission in an emergency. It also lists Cyprus travel advice as a separate page on gov.cy, so read the UAE entry there before you book.

If your relatives are not Cypriot

Your spouse or parents may hold a passport that does need a UAE visa. If you live in the UAE on a residence permit, you can sponsor a visit visa for a relative. ICP lists AED 100 as the application fee plus AED 100 a month for single entry, and 2 days to process. We prepare the sponsor file and the relative's documents. See Dubai visa requirements.

If you are looking for a Cyprus visa from the UAE

A Cyprus visa is a short stay visa filed by non-Cypriot residents at the VFS Global centres in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The adult fee is AED 390 and the VFS service fee is AED 29. Syrian and Turkish nationals apply at the embassy instead. The full steps for an Indian, Filipino or Egyptian resident are on Cyprus visa from Dubai.

How it works with us

Tell us on WhatsApp, or in the form here, who is travelling and on which passports. An adviser reads the passports, tells you who needs a UAE visa and who does not, and gives you one price for the whole group before you commit. After you agree, our team prepares each file and sends you the permits when they are issued. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service, not a government office. ICP and GDRFA make the final call.

A refused application does not bring back the government fee. You get a written answer, before paying, on whether any part of our own charge returns in that case.
