Ukrainian citizens do not need to apply for a UAE visa before travel. When you land in Dubai, your passport is stamped with a 30-day visit visa, free of charge. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter. If you want more than 30 days, arrange a new visa or a sponsored visit before day 30 ends.
The 30-day stamp in practice
Two sources back the rule. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs shows Ukraine as Visa Free. Emirates names Ukraine on its 30-day list: "your passport will be stamped with a 30-day visit visa free of charge". The UAE government portal links to the airline pages for these lists and warns that the lists change from time to time.
What the stamp does not tell you matters too. Emirates gives no multiple entry wording for the 30-day group, unlike the 90-day group. No ICP or GDRFA page we read says whether you can leave and come straight back for a fresh 30 days, or sets any waiting period. If your plan depends on that, check with ICP or your airline before you book. Our exit and re-entry guide explains what is and is not written down.
Biometric passport and the 6-month rule
Ukraine's visa waiver with the UAE came into force on , according to Kyiv Post reporting at the time, and it covered biometric passports for stays of up to 30 days. That is media reporting, not a UAE page, but it matches the 30 days the airline shows today.
The 6-month rule trips up more Ukrainians abroad than anything else. A passport close to expiry does not meet the UAE entry rule, so renew first. Renewals go through the Embassy of Ukraine in Abu Dhabi or the Consulate General in Dubai if you are already in the UAE.

The GDRFA tourist extension page caps tourist stays at 120 days in total. The Abu Dhabi Residents Office describes the visa on arrival as "valid for 30 days with a 10-day period for extension", which may mean a grace period rather than a paid extension. Until GDRFA spells it out for 30-day passports, treat the new tourist visa from inside as the route that is clearly priced. See Dubai visa extension for how extensions are filed.
Steps, in order
- Count back from your arrival stamp to find day 30.
- Decide on a route: new tourist visa from inside, a relative's sponsorship, or leaving.
- Send the passport, photo and insurance to the tourism company or sponsor at least a week before day 30.
- Wait for the approval email before the stamp runs out.
- Keep the new visa with your passport until you fly out.
What Dubai agencies charge
For a 30-day tourist visa extension done inside the UAE, Dubai visa agencies publish about AED 1,100 to AED 1,200 (published prices of 3 Dubai agencies, checked ). A new visit visa with an inside-country status change has no market range: only one agency publishes a price. You get one total price from us, confirmed on WhatsApp before you pay.
What to have ready
- Passport photo page, with 6 months of validity
- The page with your UAE arrival stamp
- Photo with a white background
- Health insurance valid in the UAE
- Where you are staying: hotel booking or the host's tenancy contract
- A return or onward ticket for the new end date
- If a relative sponsors you: their residence visa, salary proof and a document showing how you are related
Processing time
GDRFA states 48 hours for its tourist visa and extension services, counted from a complete file. Apply about a week before day 30 so a request for one more document does not push you past the stamp. Any day spent waiting after the stamp ends is an overstay day.
Why requests to stay longer get stuck
- Filing on day 29 or 30, with no time for corrections.
- A photo with a grey wall or shadow.
- Insurance bought in Ukraine or the EU that does not cover the UAE.
- A sponsor whose salary is under the ICP tier for the relationship.
- A passport that will fall under 6 months during the new stay.

If you have already overstayed
Visit and tourist overstays cost AED 50 a day. Look up the amount on the GDRFA fines inquiry page with your passport number. GDRFA collects fines with no service fee of its own, online or at an Amer centre. If you need to leave, ICP issues a departure permit for violators after the fines are paid: AED 200 plus AED 100 smart services, with a ticket for a flight within 7 days. How it works with us
Message us on WhatsApp or use the form on this page with a photo of your passport and the arrival stamp. Say how much longer you want to stay and whether someone in the UAE can sponsor you. A visa adviser works out which route fits your dates and tells you one total price before you pay. Our processing partners then file the new visa or extension with GDRFA or ICP, answer any query from the authority, and send you the approval by email. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service. The decision on every file belongs to GDRFA or ICP.
If GDRFA or ICP refuses, the government fee is gone: the authorities do not refund it. Your adviser tells you in writing, before payment, what part of the total, if any, you would get back.
