A maid visa renewal in Dubai comes round every year for a resident sponsor, because MOHRE issues the domestic worker permit for 1 year. You need a new medical result, an insurance policy in force, her passport with at least 6 months left, and the ICP renewal lines of AED 100 for the application, AED 100 per year and AED 100 smart service. ICP states 2 days.
The work is not hard. The risk is timing: one late step, such as an expired passport or a trip home, can push the whole renewal past the expiry date.

What Dubai providers charge
We found no published price list for maid renewals alone that we could check. For residence renewals in general, Dubai providers publish about AED 1,100 to AED 7,000 (published prices of 4 Dubai providers, checked ). That covers employment and family visas, not only domestic workers, so treat it as a rough frame. More on visa renewal in Dubai.
Documents for a housemaid visa renewal
- Her colour photo on a white background
- Her passport copy, valid at least 6 months
- New medical fitness result (she is over 18, so it is required)
- Medical insurance policy in your name as employer
- Your passport, residence and Emirates ID
- The current MOHRE contract details
MOHRE's renewal page could not be read on our last check, so it may ask for more. Keep your salary certificate and three months of bank statements on hand. The first permit needed proof of AED 25,000 a month in family income, and it costs you nothing to have the proof ready if MOHRE asks again.
The order that avoids problems
- Passport first. If hers has less than 6 months left, renew it at her embassy before anything else. A new passport number must then match on the insurance, the contract and the Emirates ID.
- Insurance. Renew or extend her policy. MOHRE says employers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi must provide adequate cover, and ICP lists insurance in its renewal documents.
- Medical. Book it once insurance is sorted. The normal Dubai service gives a result in 24 hours.
- Contract and residence. File the MOHRE contract renewal and the residence renewal.
- Emirates ID. ICP lets residents renew when less than six months remain, or after expiry, and sends the card by courier.
When to start
Start about a month before expiry. That leaves room for a passport renewal, a slow insurer or a medical that needs a retest.
Plan around her leave. She is entitled to at least 30 days a year and a ticket home every 2 years. If that trip runs past the expiry date, you cannot finish the renewal while she is away. And a residence is cancelled automatically after more than 180 days in a row outside the UAE.
ICP does allow renewal 1 to 6 months early because of travel, but only with special approval. Ask before you buy her ticket, not after.
If she is close to 60, ask before you start. MOHRE's age limit of 18 to 60 is written on the page for new permits, and we could not read whether the renewal page repeats it.
Processing time
ICP states 2 days for the residence renewal. The medical takes 24 hours on the normal service. MOHRE's contract stage took 1 working day for new contracts on its page. Allow a week from medical to finished file, longer if the passport or insurance is late. You can follow the file with a Dubai visa status check.
What delays or blocks a maid visa renewal
- Her passport is under 6 months.
- No insurance policy in force on the day you file.
- She is outside the UAE and cannot take the medical.
- An unfit medical result.
- Unpaid fines on her file or yours.
- Your own residence is expiring too. Renew yours first.
Late renewal and the fines
Grace periods after expiry vary by type of residence, up to 6 months, and the official pages we read do not set one for domestic workers. Do not count on it. After the grace period, ICP charges AED 50 a day in overstay fines. A late Emirates ID costs AED 20 a day once it is 30 days past expiry, capped at AED 1,000. Our UAE overstay fine guide explains how to check and clear them.
If you do not want to renew, cancel instead of letting it lapse. See residence visa cancellation.
How it works with us
Message us on WhatsApp, or use the form on this page, with her passport copy, the residence expiry date and any travel she has planned. A visa adviser builds a renewal timeline backwards from that date, so the passport, insurance and medical fall in the right order. You get one total price before you pay anything. The team files the contract and residence renewal, books the medical, renews the Emirates ID and tells you when the card is out. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service. MOHRE and ICP decide every renewal.
If a renewal is refused, the government does not return its fees. Your adviser confirms in writing before payment what part of our total, if any, would be refunded.
