You do not apply for a Maldives visa in advance. Maldives Immigration gives tourists a visa on arrival, and UK government advice says it runs for 30 days. What gets checked is the paperwork around it: passport validity, a booking, a return ticket, funds and the IMUGA declaration.

- Machine-readable passport with at least 1 month of validity
- Confirmed return ticket
- Prepaid accommodation at a registered facility
- Proof of sufficient funds
- Yellow fever certificate if you arrive from a risk country
- The Traveller Declaration, submitted within 96 hours before arrival

The IMUGA declaration
IMUGA is the online Traveller Declaration at imuga.immigration.gov.mv. Submit it up to 96 hours (4 days) before you land, then show the confirmation at immigration. Do it for every traveller, children included. If you book a Dubai flight that connects through another country, count the 96 hours from your arrival in the Maldives, not from take-off in Dubai.
What the UK government adds
UK FCDO advice, written for British citizens, confirms the 30 day tourist visa and the one month passport rule. It also warns that it is illegal to bring in anything deemed contrary to Islam, including idols for worship, bibles, pork products and alcohol. Its main page, updated , warns of flight disruption linked to the Middle East escalation. A Dubai departure can be hit, so check your airline before you head to the airport.
