If you live in Dubai and your passport needs a visa for New Zealand, you apply online for a visitor visa. It costs from NZD 441, and the NZD 100 International Visitor Levy is charged with it. Immigration New Zealand decides 80% of visitor visas within 2 weeks. If your passport is on the visa waiver list, you need an NZeTA instead, from NZD 17.
Two routes, one question: your passport
New Zealand looks at nationality first.
Visa waiver passports apply for the New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority, the NZeTA. It costs from NZD 17 plus the levy, is valid for 2 years, and Immigration New Zealand asks you to allow 72 hours for it. There is no interview and no visa centre.
All other passports apply for the visitor visa. Living in the UAE does not move you from one group to the other.

So a visitor visa costs you at least NZD 541 in government charges once the levy is added. The word "from" matters: the figure on the official page is a starting price. The exact amount shows in the form before you pay.
What Dubai agencies charge
Dubai visa agencies publish about AED 1,050 to AED 1,800 for New Zealand visitor visa help (published prices of 4 Dubai agencies, checked ). One agency lists the government visa fee as included. The others do not say, so ask what each quote covers before you compare.
How long you can stay
The visitor visa gives up to 6 or 9 months, depending on your case. The limits over time are set too:
- Single entry: at most 9 months in any 18 months.
- Multiple entry: at most 6 months in each 12 months.
Pick the type that matches your plan. A two-week holiday rarely needs multiple entry, while parents visiting children in Auckland twice a year might.
Money you need to show
Immigration New Zealand sets a clear figure. You show NZD 1,000 for each month of your stay. If your accommodation is prepaid, the figure falls to NZD 400 per month. For a one-month trip with hotels already paid, that means NZD 400 in available funds.
Documents to upload
- Passport valid for the trip, and past visas for other countries if you have them.
- UAE residence visa and Emirates ID.
- Bank statements in your name showing the funds above.
- Employer letter from your Dubai company with job title, salary and approved leave, or your trade licence if self-employed.
- Prepaid accommodation receipts, or a letter from the person you stay with.
- Flight booking out of New Zealand.
Processing time
Immigration New Zealand says 80% of visitor visas are decided within 2 weeks. Its busy period runs from September to March, the southern summer. If your dates fall in that window, apply well ahead. The NZeTA is quicker: allow 72 hours.
Refusal reasons to plan around
- Funds below the official figure, or statements that do not show the money as yours.
- Doubts you will leave. A short time in your Dubai job, or a residence visa ending during the trip.
- Thin trip plan. No accommodation, no return flight, no clear reason.
- Undisclosed history, such as earlier refusals or overstays in any country.
Each refused application loses the levy. Fix the gap before you apply again rather than resubmitting the same file.
