UAE visa for Oman residents

We check your Oman resident card and profession, file your UAE entry visa and your family's, and tell you which border crossing to use. Omani citizens need no visa.

We file your UAE visa before you drive or fly

Last updated

If you live in Oman and hold a non-GCC passport, you apply for a UAE entry visa before you leave. Omani citizens skip this. GDRFA Dubai lists AED 52.5, AED 100 and AED 100 and promises the e-visa in 48 hours. We read your resident card for the profession and the dates, then file for you, your spouse, your children and your helper.

Who counts as an Oman resident here

Omani citizens are GCC citizens, and u.ae says they need no visa. Everyone else who lives in Oman is a resident for this purpose, whether you work in Muscat, Sohar or Salalah. An Indian teacher, a Filipino nurse and a Bangladeshi technician all follow the same steps.

Check your own passport first. Some passports get a UAE visa on arrival, and the UAE visa on arrival page lists them. An Oman resident card adds nothing there.

What the authority wants to see

GDRFA's page describes the visa as one for foreigners living in a GCC state, with their families and the domestic workers who live with them. The checks are about four things: a valid GCC residence permit, a profession that GDRFA accepts, a clean entry record for the UAE, and papers in good order. On the paper side, it asks for a passport copy valid at least 6 months with the outer cover shown, a recent photo on white, and a copy or electronic extract of your permit that shows job title and validity. Applications go in online at smart.gdrfad.gov.ae, day or night.

What Dubai agencies charge

No fair range: we did not find enough published agency prices for this visa.

Driving in from Oman

Many Oman residents drive. A press report dated quoted a UAE Interior Ministry notice, in force from , that sent Oman-based expats to the Khatm Al Shikla and Mezyad crossings. Hatta and Al Ain were described as for Emiratis, other GCC citizens and their companions.

We found no current official page that repeats this, and the report is years old. Confirm the crossing before you set off, because an approved visa does not help if you are sent back at the wrong post. A flight avoids the question.

Two directions, two visas

This page is for people living in Oman who visit the UAE. If you live in the UAE and are going to Oman, read Oman visa for UAE residents. The Gulf-wide rule is on UAE visa for GCC residents.

How long you can stay

u.ae gives 30 days for the GCC resident visit visa, while the ICP page speaks of 60 days of validity from issue. Those are not the same thing. Plan to be out within 30 days of entry unless an adviser tells you otherwise in writing.

Order of work

  1. Read the job title and expiry on your resident card.
  2. File one application per person on GDRFA or ICP smart services.
  3. Pay, then wait for the email with the e-visa.
  4. If you drive, confirm the crossing.
  5. Print the e-visa and take it with your passport and card.

Timing

GDRFA says 48 hours, ICP says 2 days. For a weekend in Dubai, file the previous Sunday.

Why files fail

  • The job title is not accepted for this visa.
  • The card copy hides the profession.
  • The passport has under 6 months left.
  • A relative is filed on your form, not their own.
  • There is a travel restriction on record.

How it works with us

You send the resident card, passport and dates on WhatsApp or the form on this page. An adviser looks at the job title before anything else and tells you if the file looks weak. You then get one price for everybody on the trip, before you pay. Our team submits each file, answers GDRFA or ICP if they ask for more and passes the e-visas to you. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service, and GDRFA or ICP makes the decision.

Government fees stay with the authority after a refusal. Before you pay us, your adviser writes down which part of our total, if any, would come back.

Questions people ask

Do Oman residents need a visa for Dubai?

Yes, if you are an expat. u.ae says GCC citizens do not need a visa, so Omani citizens walk in. A foreigner who lives in Oman applies for the UAE entry visa for GCC residents before travel, unless their own passport gets a UAE visa on arrival.

How much is a UAE visit visa from Oman?

GDRFA Dubai lists a service fee of AED 52.5, an application fee of AED 100 and an issuance fee of AED 100. ICP lists AED 100 application, AED 100 issuance and AED 100 smart services. Dubai agencies add their own service charge on top.

Can I drive from Oman to Dubai on an expat card?

Yes, with the visa. A press report from late December said a UAE Interior Ministry notice limited Oman-based expats to the Khatm Al Shikla and Mezyad crossings. That is old, so ask us or check the border rule before you drive.

Can I use Hatta or Al Ain to enter the UAE from Oman?

The same report said those crossings were kept for Emiratis, other GCC citizens and their companions. Treat that as a reason to confirm before you set out, because the report is years old and rules at ports can change.

How long does the UAE visa for Oman residents take?

GDRFA states 48 hours and ICP states 2 days. The e-visa arrives by email. If you plan a weekend drive to Dubai, file about a week ahead in case the authority asks for a clearer copy of your resident card.

How many days can an Oman resident stay in the UAE?

The u.ae page gives 30 days for the GCC resident visa. ICP lists 60 days of validity from issue for its port permit. Because the two readings differ, plan to leave within 30 days of entry unless your adviser confirms otherwise.

Is the Oman visit visa the same thing as the UAE visa for Oman residents?

No. People who live in the UAE and travel to Oman need the Oman GCC resident visa or an e-visa. People who live in Oman and travel to the UAE need the UAE entry visa described on this page. They are separate applications on opposite sides.
