A Dubai residence visa renewal costs AED 740 in GDRFA fee lines for up to two years: AED 200 renewal, AED 10 and AED 10 in dirham fees, AED 500 inside the country and AED 20 delivery. Each year over two adds AED 100. Then add the Emirates ID at AED 100 per year plus AED 100, the medical for adults from AED 270, and health insurance.
So the government part is small and fixed. What moves the bill is the medical speed you pick and the insurance plan.

Three examples, government lines only
An employee on a two-year Dubai visa. AED 740 at GDRFA, the Emirates ID at AED 100 twice plus AED 100, and the 24-hour medical at AED 270. Insurance is extra. The employer pays all of it under UAE labour rules.
A 10-year-old child on a family visa. The same AED 740 and the Emirates ID. No medical, because the test is for 18 and over.
A three-year visa. The two-year sum plus AED 100 for the third year, and an Emirates ID that covers three years.

Late renewal costs more
GDRFA's renewal pages give 60 days of grace after expiry for most residence types. After that, ICP charges AED 50 for each day. The Emirates ID has its own fine: AED 20 a day after 30 days from expiry, capped at AED 1,000. Renewing on time is the cheapest thing you can do. What Dubai agencies charge
Published prices from 4 Dubai agencies and cost guides put a residence renewal at about AED 1,100 to AED 7,000 (checked ). The bottom is a service fee "from" price, before government lines. The top is an all-in employment renewal that includes insurance. Read every quote for what sits inside it.
Documents you need for the renewal
- Colour photo, white background
- Passport copy with at least 6 months left
- Medical result for anyone 18 or over
- Health insurance certificate
- For property owners, retirees and investors: current proof of the same conditions as at first issue
Processing time
GDRFA lists 48 hours and ICP 2 days for the renewal. The Emirates ID takes 5 days. Paying for a faster medical shortens the wait only at the medical stage.
Common reasons the money is wasted
- Paying before the medical result is in. If it needs a retest, the file waits.
- Insurance that ends before the filing date. Dubai residence permits need valid cover, so a lapsed policy stops the file.
- A passport about to expire. You pay again later to move the visa to the new passport.
- Filing for a self-sponsored visa that no longer qualifies. Government fees are not refunded after a refusal.
