To get an Austria visa from Dubai, apply at VFS Global in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. It covers UAE residents who need a Schengen visa. The Austrian Embassy in Abu Dhabi decides, and says to allow 15 to 45 calendar days. The fee is EUR 90 over age 12. Your UAE residence permit must stay valid 3 months after the visa ends. Everyone attends in person, children included.

What the Austrian Embassy asks of UAE residents

The embassy's "how to apply" page is short but strict. Four rules shape every Austrian file from the UAE:

  1. Residence validity. Your UAE residence permit must be valid for at least 3 months after the visa you ask for expires. Note that this is the visa end date, not your flight home. If you ask for a visa that runs longer than your trip, the residence has to cover that too.
  2. In person for all. Every applicant goes to the centre, children of any age as well.
  3. Window. Lodge between 6 months and 15 days before you travel.
  4. Timing. 15 to 45 calendar days for certain nationalities, and the embassy warns that times can be longer.

Austria must be your main destination. Vienna plus a day trip to Bratislava is Austrian. Four nights in Munich and two in Salzburg is a Germany visa from Dubai.

A VFS service fee figure for Austria appears in search results, but the VFS page could not be opened to confirm it. We leave it out. Look it up on VFS Austria UAE before you go.

What Dubai agencies charge for Austria

Dubai agencies publish about AED 325 to AED 499 for an Austria tourist visa service (published prices of 3 Dubai agencies, checked ). Where they list what is included, the EUR 90 visa fee is not part of it.

Which VFS centre

The embassy names VFS Global in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Travel guides report the split: Abu Dhabi and Al Ain residence visas go to VFS Abu Dhabi, and Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah to VFS Dubai. The embassy page we read does not spell this out, so confirm it on the VFS booking page when you choose a centre.

Your Austrian checklist

  • Passport with at least two blank pages and at least 3 months' validity after you leave Schengen.
  • UAE residence permit valid 3 months beyond the visa's end date, plus Emirates ID.
  • Signed application form for a Schengen visa type C.
  • Recent passport photo.
  • Travel medical insurance, minimum EUR 30,000, valid in every Schengen state.
  • Flight reservation in and out.
  • Hotel bookings or a host's invitation for each night.
  • Bank statements showing regular income.
  • Employer letter or salary certificate, with leave dates.
  • For each child, the extra papers listed on the VFS Austria checklist. Read this part early, as some take time to get.

Applying for Austria step by step

  1. Plan the route so that Austria holds most of your nights.
  2. Check each family member's residence end date against the visa you will ask for.
  3. Book one VFS slot per person, children included.
  4. Go together, pay the fee in AED, and give biometrics.
  5. Allow up to 45 days, and more in busy months, before you rely on the passport.

The Schengen visa appointment in Dubai page has more on what happens at VFS.

Processing time

The embassy's range is 15 to 45 calendar days for certain nationalities, and it warns of longer times. That is wider than many neighbours, so file early. A booking 16 days before departure is legal under EU rules but rarely enough for Austria.

Why Austrian applications fail

  • Residence permit ending less than 3 months after the visa would expire.
  • A child left off the appointment list, so the family has to rebook.
  • Austria is not the main stay on the itinerary.
  • Weak proof of funds or leave.
  • Insurance that does not cover all Schengen states.

How it works with us

Message us on WhatsApp or use the form on this page with each traveller's passport, residence visa and the dates. A visa adviser checks the 3-month residence rule for every person, since one short residence can stall a family file. Then we confirm Austria is the right country. You get one total price before you pay. The team prepares each form and the shared bookings, and books VFS slots for the whole family where possible. Everyone attends in person. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service, not the Austrian Embassy or VFS. The embassy decides.

The embassy keeps the visa fee if it says no. Before you pay, your adviser tells you in writing what part of our total, if any, comes back in that case.
