A Switzerland visa from Dubai is lodged at VFS Global in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. It is for UAE residents whose passport needs a Schengen visa. The Swiss Embassy in Abu Dhabi decides within 15 calendar days in most cases. The adult fee is EUR 90 plus the VFS charge. Your UAE residence visa and Emirates ID must run at least 1 month past your return.
The Swiss rules that differ
Switzerland is in Schengen but not in the EU. Its UAE procedure page, published on with checklists updated on , has a few points worth knowing:
- Residence rule of 1 month. Germany and Austria want 3 months. Switzerland asks for 1 month after your return, for both the residence visa and the Emirates ID.
- Main destination. Switzerland or Liechtenstein must be the main stop.
- Consultation cases. For some nationalities other Schengen states are consulted, which adds up to 14 days.
- Appeal fee. A refusal can be appealed, with a CHF 200 administrative fee.

What Dubai agencies charge for Switzerland
Dubai agencies publish about AED 312.50 to AED 380 for a Switzerland tourist visa service (published prices of 3 Dubai agencies, checked ). These prices do not include the EUR 90 visa fee where the page lists what is covered.
Which VFS centre
The embassy lists VFS Global centres in Dubai and Abu Dhabi (and Manama for Bahrain). Searches like "vfs swiss dubai" and "vfs global switzerland dubai" lead to the same VFS Switzerland UAE booking site. Pick the centre that suits you; files from both go to the embassy in Abu Dhabi.
Documents the Swiss checklist asks for
Download the checklist from the embassy page for your purpose of travel. For a tourist trip, expect:
- Passport valid at least 3 months after you leave Schengen, with two blank pages.
- UAE residence visa and Emirates ID valid at least 1 month beyond your return.
- Signed Schengen application form.
- Biometric photo.
- Travel health insurance with at least EUR 30,000 cover in all Schengen states.
- Return flight reservation.
- Hotel bookings in Switzerland, plus any other stops.
- Recent bank statements.
- Employer letter or salary certificate showing your leave.
Visiting family or going on business? The embassy has a separate checklist for each purpose, and those add papers from the person or company you visit. Use the one that matches your trip, not the tourist list.
How to apply for a Swiss visa
- Check your trip makes Switzerland or Liechtenstein the main destination.
- Download the right checklist from the Swiss Embassy page.
- Complete the form and gather papers.
- Book at VFS Switzerland UAE, between 6 months and 15 days before you go.
- Attend, pay and give fingerprints.
- Wait for the embassy's decision.
Processing time
The embassy's own figure is 15 calendar days. Consultation cases can take up to 14 days longer. Together that is still well under the general EU maximum of 45 days, and it gives you a clear figure to plan around. Allow for the appointment wait as well. See the appointment guide for booking advice.
Common refusal reasons for Switzerland
- Residence visa or Emirates ID expiring less than 1 month after the return date.
- Switzerland is not the main stay, for example a ski week in Austria with one night in Zurich.
- Hotel bookings that do not match the dates on the form.
- Missing employer leave confirmation.
- Insurance that excludes some Schengen states.
How it works with us
Send your passport, residence visa, Emirates ID and trip dates on WhatsApp or with the form on this page. A visa adviser checks the 1-month residence rule first, since it trips people up, and then the main destination. You receive one total price before you pay. We pick the right checklist, complete the form, prepare bookings and insurance if you need them, and book VFS where we can. You go to VFS for fingerprints. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service. The Swiss Embassy in Abu Dhabi decides on every application.
Switzerland does not return the visa fee if it refuses, and an appeal costs extra. Before you pay us, your adviser confirms in writing which part of our total, if any, would be returned after a refusal.
