Dominican Republic visa for UAE residents

We check whether your passport needs a Dominican visa, prepare the embassy file if it does and review your E-Ticket form and return ticket before you fly.

We check your passport rule and your E-Ticket

Last updated

Your passport decides the Dominican Republic rule, not your UAE residence. The Dominican tourism site says visitors from the US, Canada, the UK, the EU and many other places need no visa, and it does not name UAE residence as a reason for an exemption. We check your passport, prepare the embassy file if you need a visa, and review your E-Ticket form and return ticket.

Who needs a visa

The Dominican tourism board says most visitors, including those from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Mexico, many South American countries, Central America, Japan and Israel, do not need a visa. Anyone else must apply for one from the Dominican Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It adds a second route that matters in Dubai. Any person, whatever the nationality, can visit as a tourist if they are a legal resident of, or hold a valid visa for, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom or Schengen. So an Indian engineer with a valid US visa and a Filipino nurse with a Schengen visa fall under that route. A British passport holder needs neither.

Residence in the UAE is not in the list we read. If your passport is not on the no-visa list and you hold none of those documents, you apply for a Dominican visa.

What Dubai agencies charge

We did not find enough published agency prices to show a fair range. One large agency shows no Dominican Republic visa option for UAE residents at the time we looked. Ask us for one total price before you pay.

The E-Ticket form

All foreign and Dominican passengers entering or leaving on commercial flights must complete the free electronic entry and exit form, called the E-Ticket, at eticket.migracion.gob.do. You can fill it in as soon as you have your flight details, even months ahead, but it must be done before you reach the airline counter.

A family files one form. One user is created, and you enter the data of every member who travels. If a site charges you for the form, it is not the official one.

Round-trip ticket and passport

From , foreign passengers must hold an air ticket to and from the Dominican Republic. The airline staff at the Dubai counter will ask for it. Book the return leg before you fly.

Your passport needs at least six months of validity. The tourism site gives this for tourist entry and for visa issue.

How long you can stay

Visitors usually receive a 30-day tourist card on arrival. If you stay past 30 days you pay an extra fee when you leave, set on a sliding scale by the total length of your stay. The US$20 departure tax is already inside your airline ticket.

Documents to have ready

  • Passport valid at least six months.
  • If you need a visa: the embassy's application documents, which we list for your case.
  • Your US, Canada, UK or Schengen visa or residence card, if you rely on that route.
  • Round-trip air ticket.
  • Completed E-Ticket QR code, saved on your phone.
  • Hotel booking or address in the Dominican Republic.

The embassy

The Embassy of the Dominican Republic is in Abu Dhabi, in the Al Bateen area. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists it among the foreign missions accredited to the UAE. We did not find a mission in Dubai, so a visa application from Dubai goes through Abu Dhabi. The page we read does not list the embassy's services.

Steps

  1. Check your nationality against the no-visa list.
  2. If you are not on it, look for a US, Canada, UK or Schengen visa or residence.
  3. If you have neither, apply for the Dominican visa at the embassy.
  4. Book a round-trip ticket.
  5. File the E-Ticket before the airline counter.

Processing time

The pages we read give no embassy processing time. Leave several weeks before a booked flight if you need the visa, and do not buy a non-refundable ticket until it is in your passport.

Common refusal reasons

  • Applying for a visa with a passport that has less than six months left.
  • Relying on a US, Canada, UK or Schengen visa that has expired by the travel date.
  • No return ticket in the booking.
  • Starting the trip without the E-Ticket form filed.

How it works with us

Send your passport copy, your visa or residence documents and your dates on WhatsApp or through the form. A visa adviser checks which Dominican route applies to your passport and tells you plainly if a visa is needed. If it is, you get one total price before you pay. The team prepares the file for the embassy and follows up. We also check your E-Ticket and ticket names with you before the flight. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service. The Dominican authorities decide every visa and entry.

If a visa is refused, fees paid to the authorities are not refunded. Before you pay, your adviser tells you in writing what part of our total, if any, comes back.

Questions people ask

Do UAE residents need a visa for the Dominican Republic?

It depends on your passport. The Dominican tourism site says visitors from the US, Canada, UK, EU, Russia, Ukraine, Mexico and many other places need no visa. It does not name UAE residence as a ground for an exemption, so other passports need a visa from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Can an Indian or Filipino living in Dubai visit the Dominican Republic?

Yes, but through a visa or a qualifying document. The tourism site says anyone, whatever the nationality, can visit if they are a legal resident of, or hold a valid visa for, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom or Schengen. Otherwise you apply for a Dominican visa.

What is the Dominican Republic E-Ticket?

It is the free electronic entry and exit form at eticket.migracion.gob.do. Everyone on a commercial flight files it before reaching the airline counter. A family can use one user and enter every member's data. Nobody should pay a third party for it.

Do I need a return ticket for the Dominican Republic?

Yes. Since the 28 April rule change, foreign passengers must hold an air ticket to and from the Dominican Republic, round trip. Book the return before you fly, even if you plan to extend, because airline staff in Dubai can check it at check-in.

How long can I stay in the Dominican Republic as a tourist?

Visitors usually receive a 30-day tourist card on arrival. Staying longer costs an extra fee on departure, set on a sliding scale by length of stay. Check the rule for your passport with us before you plan a stay beyond a month.

Where is the Dominican Republic embassy in the UAE?

The Embassy of the Dominican Republic is in Abu Dhabi, in the Al Bateen area, and the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists it among accredited missions. We did not find a Dominican mission in Dubai, so Dubai residents file through Abu Dhabi.

How much passport validity do I need for the Dominican Republic?

At least six months. The tourism site gives this for tourist entry and for visa issue. If your passport has less, renew it first, as the Dominican ministry will not issue a visa on a passport that runs out too soon.
