Visa-free; we file extensions and family visas

Last updated

Armenians do not need a Dubai visa. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists the Republic of Armenia as visa free, with a free multiple entry visit visa on arrival, valid six months, for up to 90 days in total. Our part starts after arrival: extensions, visas for relatives with other passports, and residence.

The agreement behind it

On the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced a protocol amending its memorandum with Armenia on waiving pre-entry visas for stays of up to 90 days. The protocol added special, official and ordinary passports for both countries and was to take effect after an exchange of diplomatic notes. The MOFA exemptions list, read in , now shows Armenia as visa free.

The Armenian embassy in Abu Dhabi

The Embassy of Armenia to the UAE sits in Abu Dhabi. Its consular pages list citizenship matters, visas, passports, notary services, special residency status, criminal record certificates and customs privileges for people moving to Armenia permanently.

Consular reception runs 10:00 to 13:00, Monday to Thursday. Prior registration is mandatory, and appointments are booked on uae.mfa.am. The embassy closes on Armenian and UAE holidays. Joining its consular registration is voluntary and free of charge.

A friend or spouse with a different passport

The free entry does not extend to anyone else. If the visitor holds another passport, a licensed Dubai tourism company can file a GDRFA tourist visa. GDRFA lists AED 210 for 30 days, single entry, and asks for a passport with six months left, an onward ticket and UAE-valid health insurance.

Hosts with UAE residence have another option, the ICP visit visa. The Dubai family visit visa page lists the sponsor income tiers and the guarantee.

If you are heading the other way

Many Armenians in the UAE search for the reverse trip. UAE residents have their own rules for Armenia, set out on Armenia visa for UAE residents. That page covers a Dubai resident travelling to Yerevan, which is not the same as the entry rule above. A neighbouring passport has its own page too, Dubai visa for Georgians.

Common mistakes

  • Passport with under six months left.
  • Counting stays across trips and passing the 90 day total.
  • Treating the visit stamp as permission to work.
  • Missing the last day to extend.

Time and what slows a file

Nothing is processed at arrival. For an extension ICP lists 2 days. Most delays come from a scan with cut corners or a stamp that differs from the system record. Planning to study, work or settle? Tell the adviser first, because those start as residence files.

Residence for Armenians

The UAE residence routes for Armenian passport holders run through an employer, a company, an investment or a family sponsor, each with a medical test and an Emirates ID step. See UAE residence visa. Meanwhile you are a visitor.

How it works with us

Send your passport page and plan by WhatsApp or the form here. A visa adviser works out whether you need nothing, an extension, a visa for a companion or a residence file, and quotes one total before anything is filed. Once you accept, the team prepares and submits the request and chases it until a decision. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service, and the UAE authorities make the call.

A refused request means the authority keeps its fee. Before you pay, the adviser writes down which part of our total, if any, would be returned.

How much is an extension for an Armenian in the UAE?

ICP charges AED 100 to apply and AED 500 for each extension. Processing is listed at 2 days and the total for a tourist visit tops out at 120 days. A day over the limit is fined at AED 50.

Where is the Armenian embassy for the UAE?

The Embassy of Armenia to the UAE is in Abu Dhabi. It lists citizenship, visa, passport, notary, special residency status and criminal record certificate services. Consular reception needs prior registration through the embassy website.

What are the consular reception hours of the Armenian embassy in Abu Dhabi?

The embassy page gives 10:00 to 13:00, Monday to Thursday, and says prior registration is mandatory through uae.mfa.am. It is closed on Armenian and UAE holidays. Check the page again before you travel, as hours can change.
