Visa-free 90 days in 12 months; we check and extend

Last updated

Brazilians can visit the UAE without a visa. A Brazil-UAE agreement allows an ordinary Brazilian passport holder up to 90 days in every 12 months from the first entry, for tourism, transit or business. The limit is what you plan to do: it does not cover work or study. We check your plans against the agreement, extend stays and file the right visa when the free entry is not enough.

The agreement, as the embassy explains it

The Brazilian Embassy in Abu Dhabi publishes a guide for tourists and residents (published , updated ). We read it on . It says:

  • Tourism means a trip for leisure, information or culture, without paid work from local sources in the UAE.
  • Transit means a quick stopover to travel on to a third country.
  • Business means looking for commercial opportunities, attending meetings and signing contracts.
  • The agreement gives nobody a right to enter. UAE officers can refuse entry, without appeal.

The embassy suggests carrying hotel bookings, a return ticket and travel insurance at landing. The UAE ministry list shows Brazil as visa free, with a free multiple entry visit visa on arrival valid six months and 90 days in total. The embassy guide is older than the ministry list, so treat the guide's numbers as the agreement's wording and check the ministry list for the current entry stamp.

What the free entry does not cover

The embassy lists the excluded activities plainly: paid work, employment, research, internships, study, social work, technical assistance, and missionary, artistic or religious activity. A Brazilian who wants any of these must ask the UAE authorities about a visa. In practice that means a work permit and residence through an employer, or a student visa through a university. See our work visa in Dubai guide.

Fake job offers

This is the part of the embassy page we would put on the first screen. The embassy says it has received many reports of Brazilians extorted by fake job offers from gangs posing as UAE companies. The scam asks you to pay "processing fees" or "visa fees" before you start. The embassy's rule is simple: do not believe any offer that asks you to pay, because under UAE law travel, visa and ticket costs are normally the employer's.

A real offer comes with an offer letter registered with the UAE labour ministry, listing all contract terms. The contract is then signed in the UAE on arrival. Read the letter closely: salary, housing, working hours, overtime and your return ticket. Promises made by voice message do not count later. Employees also take a medical exam at an accredited centre, and certain diseases mean the visa is refused.

Passport, debts and health cover

Rule What the embassy says
Passport validity At least 6 months from the date of entry
Emergency passport Not accepted by UAE immigration
Unpaid debts Arrest without a court process is possible, also on later arrival or transit
Health insurance Not required, but strongly recommended: no universal free system, treatment can cost tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars
Legal help The embassy has no legal aid, and the UAE has no public defender

The embassy and the community

The Embassy of Brazil in Abu Dhabi estimates that about 5,500 Brazilians live in the UAE, most of them in Dubai and Abu Dhabi (figure from its page). Lost your passport? File a police report first, then apply to the embassy for a new one, then ask UAE immigration for a new visa. Keep copies of your passport, visa, Emirates ID and identity card somewhere you can reach.

Going the other way: Brazil from Dubai

"Dubai to Brazil visa price" is a different question. The Brazilian Embassy in Abu Dhabi lists a visitor visa (VIVIS) fee of AED 320 for the standard case, handled by appointment through its online system. UAE residents on a passport that needs a visa should read our Brazil visa from Dubai page.

How it works with us

Tell us on WhatsApp, or in the form here, what the trip is for and how long it will last. An adviser reads your answers against the agreement and says plainly whether the free entry fits. If it does not, we explain the visa you need. For an extension or a relative's visa you get a single price in writing before you pay. The team files and follows up with the authority. We are a private visa service. The decision belongs to UAE immigration.

If the authority refuses, it keeps its fee. Ask the adviser, before paying, what part of our own charge would be returned after a refusal. You get the answer in writing.

Questions people ask

Do Brazilians need a visa for Dubai?

Not for tourism, transit or business. A Brazil-UAE agreement lets holders of an ordinary Brazilian passport stay 90 days in every 12 months from the first entry. The UAE ministry lists Brazil as visa free, six months multiple entry.

Does the Brazil visa exemption allow me to work in Dubai?

No. The Brazilian embassy in Abu Dhabi says the agreement does not cover paid work, employment, research, internships, study, social work, technical assistance or missionary, artistic and religious activity. For those you must ask the UAE authorities about a visa.

Can I fly to Dubai on a Brazilian emergency passport?

No. The embassy says UAE immigration accepts only the ordinary passport. A traveller who lands on an emergency passport is stopped and made to leave. The passport must also have six months of validity from the entry date.

How do I know if a Dubai job offer for a Brazilian is real?

Never pay for one. The embassy reports gangs posing as UAE companies who charge 'processing' or 'visa' fees. Under UAE law the employer normally pays visa and ticket costs. Find the company's own HR number and call to confirm the offer.

Can a Brazilian be arrested for unpaid debts in the UAE?

Yes. The embassy warns that unpaid debts and bills can mean arrest without a court process, and that people who leave with debts are recorded and can be detained on arrival in the UAE or another Gulf country, even in transit.

Where is the Brazilian embassy for people in Dubai?

The Embassy of Brazil is in Abu Dhabi. The embassy page tells Brazilians who lose a passport to file a police report, then apply there for a new passport, then ask UAE immigration for a new visa. It has no legal aid service.

How much is a Brazil visa from Dubai?

That is the other direction. The Brazilian embassy in Abu Dhabi lists a standard visitor visa fee of AED 320, by appointment through its online system. UAE residents on other passports need it. See our Brazil visa from Dubai page for the steps.
