Hong Kong SAR passport holders do not need a visa for the UAE. The UAE foreign ministry lists Hong Kong as Visa Free, with a free 30-day visit visa on arrival. The Hong Kong Immigration Department says the same: up to 30 days. Past day 30, or with family on other passports, we do the filing.
The rule in two official lines
The UAE list reads: Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the Peoples Republic of China, Visa Free. The Hong Kong Immigration Department press release of says HKSAR passport holders may visit Qatar and the UAE visa-free, previously visa-on-arrival, for a stay of up to 30 days.

When 30 days is not enough
A month is tight for a family visit or a slow business trip. Two routes exist. You file an extension before day 30 ends, or a UAE resident relative sponsors a visit visa through ICP. We tell you which is cheaper for your dates.
Help from Hong Kong
The Hong Kong Immigration Department said on that residents who need help outside Hong Kong can call the 24-hour hotline of its Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit. We found no Hong Kong office in the UAE. Call the hotline first if you lose a passport.
Passports that follow another rule
