Hungarians do not need a visa for Dubai. Hungary's consular service says you can enter for tourism with a passport valid at least six months and stay 90 days within six months, and the UAE foreign ministry lists Hungary as visa free. Hungary also warns about stamp errors, old debts and documents it says the UAE will not accept. We check those, then handle extensions and family visas.
What the Hungarian foreign ministry says about entry
The Hungarian consular page for the UAE, last changed on , lists what a Hungarian can travel with:
- Passport: valid at least 6 months from the day of entry. Holders of a UAE residence permit have no minimum validity.
- Temporary passport: usable only to leave and to transit, and Hungary's embassy does not advise travelling on one.
- National ID card, old ID booklet, driving licence: not accepted.
- Transit: airport transit is visa free.
- Children: a minor travelling without a legal guardian should carry the guardian's notarised consent in English.
The same page says the 90 days cannot be extended. ICP lists an extension for visit visas, so the two sources disagree. We do not guess. We ask the authority about your stamp before we file.
Stamps, debts and old residence permits
Hungary's page repeats three warnings that are rare on other countries' pages:
- Stamps that do not match the system. It reports Hungarians who were refused entry or fined on exit because the UAE system did not record the dates correctly. Check that the stamped dates are true and keep your boarding passes for at least 180 days.
- Old debts. Anyone who left the UAE owing a utility bill, phone bill or bank loan can be arrested at the airport on return. The page says debts do not expire.
- A residence permit left open. A former resident who left without cancelling the permit can have the passport confiscated at the airport on return.

Hungary's current travel advice
The page sets the UAE at security category II, orange. It asks citizens to travel only in unavoidable cases and to register for consular protection. It says EU airlines are not flying to the UAE under EASA restrictions and that Wizz Air has postponed its UAE restart to . It also says photographing or posting attacks, air defence activity or debris is illegal. Read the page itself before you book, since it changes.
Hungarian embassy services in the UAE
Hungary has an Embassy and a Consular Office in Abu Dhabi. The consular office works by prior appointment only, booked online, and accepts bank cards only. Its menu lists travel documents, civil registration, name change, address registration, certificates, authentications, a police certificate, citizenship matters and consular fees. The embassy's overview also lists agreements with the UAE: double taxation and air services (), economic cooperation (), science and technology () and investment protection ().
When a visit is not enough
- A partner on another passport: they may need a visit visa before flying. Send both passports.
- Family living with you: a resident sponsors a spouse and children with a monthly salary of AED 4,000, or AED 3,000 plus accommodation. See the family visa guide.
- Moving for good: a job, a business or a family link ends in a residence visa, not a longer visit.
