The Hungarian embassy gives 15 days as the standard decision time, extendable to 30, or to 60 in exceptional cases.

Fees at VFS Global Hungary

Hungary is one of the few Schengen states where the visa centre lists the visa fee in dirhams.

What Dubai agencies charge for Hungary

Dubai agencies publish about AED 325 to AED 355 for Hungary visa help (published prices of 2 Dubai agencies, checked ). One says the visa fee is paid separately at the centre. This is other companies' pricing, not ours.

Who can file in the UAE

The Hungarian embassy in Abu Dhabi states the rule plainly: you can apply in the UAE only if you are a citizen or a resident here. A visitor on a short stay in Dubai files in their home country.

It also says to apply to the state of your main destination, and gives examples:

  • Hungary only: apply to Hungary.
  • 7 days in Italy and 3 in Hungary: apply to Italy.
  • 5 days in Hungary, 4 in Austria, 3 in the Czech Republic: apply to Hungary.

That matters for Vienna and Budapest trips. Count nights before you book a slot. See Austria if Austria has more.

Where to go

  • VFS Dubai: Wafi Mall, Phase 5 Horus, Umm Hurair 2.
  • VFS Abu Dhabi: The Mall, World Trade Centre, Level B2.
  • The embassy in Abu Dhabi takes only family members of EEA citizens (not Hungarian citizens), and EU Blue Card, intra-corporate transfer, guest investor, national card and self-employment residence permit applications, booked by e-mail.

Everything else goes through VFS. Book through the link on the Hungarian embassy's visa page.

Timing and the file

VFS sends accepted files to the embassy on the next working day. The minimum is 15 calendar days for a complete file. You can apply from 6 months before travel, no later than 15 days before. VFS says supporting documents must not be older than 1 month, and it offers a photo booth at the centre.

For a tourist, VFS has a separate tourism checklist. The usual set applies: passport, UAE residence and Emirates ID, travel medical insurance of at least EUR 30,000, bookings, bank statements and an employer letter. Use the VFS checklist for the exact list. We follow it line by line.

Steps

  1. Count nights across your whole trip.
  2. Open the Hungarian embassy's visa page and follow its VFS link.
  3. Choose the visa type and download its checklist.
  4. Book a slot at Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
  5. Attend, hand in the file, give fingerprints, pay the visa and service fees.
  6. Track the file. The embassy decides.

If you are refused

The embassy gives you 8 calendar days from the refusal note to appeal in person at the embassy in Abu Dhabi. Hours are Monday to Thursday 9 AM to 12 PM and Friday 9 to 11 AM, with no booking. Bring the refusal note, an appeal letter, any new documents and a debit card. The appeal fee is non-refundable and everyone pays it. The embassy gives 15 days for an appeal, which can be extended once by 21 days. A new, stronger application is sometimes the faster route, but only if the reason for refusal can be fixed.

A Hungary work or residence permit is a different story

The embassy's page opens with a notice. Under a government decree (number 450, adopted in December), from new employment residence permits can be approved only for nationals of countries with a readmission agreement with Hungary or the EU, or that have an accredited body in Hungary. The embassy says nationals of Georgia, Armenia and the Philippines fulfil this today and others will most likely be refused. A Schengen visa is for 90 days. Anything longer needs a residence permit, and the embassy puts that at 21 days on paper and usually 2 to 4 months in practice.

Common refusal reasons

  • Main destination is another state. Nights in Austria or Italy outnumber Hungary.
  • Documents older than a month, which VFS does not accept.
  • Filed by a non-resident. A visitor to Dubai cannot file there.
  • Incomplete file. A missing insurance page or booking.
  • Insufficient funds for the length of stay.

How it works with us

Send your passport copy, Emirates ID and dates on WhatsApp or the form on this page. A visa adviser confirms that Hungary is your main destination, checks your documents against the current VFS checklist and gives one total price before you pay. We prepare the form and the file, and book your slot at Dubai or Abu Dhabi. You go to VFS for fingerprints. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service. The Hungarian authorities decide, and VFS only handles the counter.

The authorities and VFS do not refund their fees after a refusal. Before you pay, your adviser writes down what part of our total, if any, comes back if the visa is refused.
