For a Slovenia visa from Dubai, UAE residents file a Schengen short-stay application at the Slovenian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, by appointment. The adult fee is EUR 90 and is paid in dirhams, in cash or by card. The embassy's visa page, last edited on , lists no outside visa centre for the UAE.

The one thing that is different about Slovenia

Most Schengen states send Dubai applicants to a VFS or TLScontact centre in Wafi Mall. Slovenia's embassy page does not. Under "locations for submitting short-stay visa applications" it names one place in the UAE: the embassy in Abu Dhabi. For Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar it names the German and Austrian embassies.

So if you live in Dubai, plan a trip to Abu Dhabi. Fingerprints are collected at your application, and the embassy says all applicants must appear in person. The embassy also says an advance appointment is required through the consular section's e-mail, and the consular section works on set hours:

Day Hours
Monday to Thursday 10:00 to 12:30 and 15:00 to 16:00
Friday 10:00 to 12:00

The embassy lists its public holiday closures, including the two Eid holidays and UAE National Day. Check its page before you pick a date.

Some agency pages claim Austria files Slovenian visas at VFS Dubai. The Slovenian embassy does not say that on its own page, so we do not rely on it.

Fees

Applicant Fee
Over 12 years EUR 90
Children 6 to 12 EUR 45

What Dubai agencies charge for Slovenia

Dubai agencies publish about AED 225 to AED 357.50 for a Slovenia visa service (published prices of 2 Dubai agencies, checked ). One of them says the visa fee is paid separately at the centre. These are other companies' prices, not ours.

What the embassy asks for

From the embassy's basic list:

  • Passport with at least two empty pages, issued within the last 10 years, valid for 3 months beyond the day you leave Schengen.
  • Completed and signed application form. A child's form is signed by a parent or guardian.
  • A recent photo that meets ICAO standards.
  • Travel medical insurance of at least EUR 30,000 for the whole Schengen area and the whole stay.
  • Proof of the purpose of the trip, means of support and accommodation.
  • A guarantee or invitation letter, certified and registered in Slovenia, if someone is inviting you.
  • The embassy's own "supporting documents to be presented by visa applicants in UAE" list, which is a separate PDF on its page.

The 10-year rule is about the passport's issue date, so an older passport fails even if it is still valid.

Timing

Apply at least 15 calendar days before you travel and up to six months before. The embassy warns that an application lodged with less notice may take up to 15 calendar days and the decision could come after your departure date. The EU baseline is 15 days, extendable to 45. See Schengen visa from Dubai for the shared rules.

Steps

  1. Count your nights. Slovenia must be the main stay, or the longest one.
  2. Download the embassy's form and the UAE supporting-documents list.
  3. E-mail the consular section for an appointment.
  4. Go to Abu Dhabi on the day, with originals, give fingerprints and pay the fee in dirhams.
  5. Wait for the decision and collect the passport as the embassy instructs.

Common reasons for refusal

  • Main destination is another state. A Slovenia stop on an Italy or Austria trip belongs in that state's file. Compare with Italy and Austria.
  • An old passport. Issued more than 10 years ago.
  • A missing UAE-specific document from the embassy's own list.
  • Unregistered invitation. A letter that was not certified and registered in Slovenia.
  • Insurance that covers only part of the stay.

A long-stay (D) visa for work or family reunification is a different file. The embassy says it cannot be extended, and for family reunification the applicant and the partner in Slovenia are interviewed at the same time. Ask us first if that is your case.

How it works with us

Send your passport copy, Emirates ID and dates on WhatsApp or the form on this page. A visa adviser checks that Slovenia is the right state and which supporting documents the embassy expects from UAE residents. You get one total price before paying. We prepare the form and the document set, request your appointment and brief you for the day. You attend in Abu Dhabi. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service. The Slovenian authorities decide.

The authorities do not return the visa fee after a refusal. Before you pay, your adviser writes down what part of our total, if any, you get back if the answer is no.

Questions people ask

Where do Dubai residents apply for a Slovenia visa?

At the Slovenian Embassy in Abu Dhabi. The embassy's visa page lists no outside visa centre for the UAE, so a Dubai resident travels to Abu Dhabi. You need an appointment, requested by e-mail to the consular section.

How much is a Slovenia visa from Dubai?

The Slovenian embassy lists EUR 90 for persons over 12 and EUR 45 for children from 6 to 12. It says consular fees are paid in dirhams, in cash or by card. The page gives no AED amounts, so ask for the figure when you book.

Is there a VFS centre for Slovenia in Dubai?

The embassy's visa page does not list one. Some agency pages say Austria takes Slovenian files at VFS Dubai. We could not confirm that on an official page, so rely on the Slovenian embassy's instructions.

How long before travel should I apply for a Slovenia visa?

At least 15 calendar days before your visit, and up to six months before. A later application may be accepted but can take up to 15 days, so the decision might arrive after your planned departure.

No. Slovenia's embassy states that citizens of the UAE do not need a short-stay visa. Citizens of Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar do need one, and those are handled by German and Austrian embassies in their own countries.

What insurance does a Slovenia visa need?

Travel medical insurance with emergency assistance, hospital care and repatriation, minimum cover EUR 30,000, valid across the whole Schengen area for the whole stay.

Can I use a Slovenia visa to visit Italy or Austria on the same trip?

Yes, it is a Schengen visa. You apply to the state where you spend the most nights. If Slovenia is only a short stop, file with the main destination instead.
