Luxembourg citizens do not need a visa for Dubai. The UAE ministry lists the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg as visa free, and the entry rule is a free multiple entry visit visa on arrival, valid for 6 months, up to 90 days in total. The embassy in Abu Dhabi also publishes travel advice for Luxembourgers, last updated .
What the Luxembourg embassy says
The advice page tells Luxembourg nationals travelling to the Gulf to be aware of the realities of the region, to be vigilant and to follow regional news before deciding on a trip. It sends readers to the Luxembourg foreign ministry's own advice and to partner countries Belgium, Germany and France for entry details. It also encourages registering your trip on Guichet.lu through the Letzebuerger am Ausland service, so the government knows where you are.

Your embassy in Abu Dhabi
The Embassy of Luxembourg is in Abu Dhabi. Consular services for Luxembourg nationals visiting or living in the UAE are by appointment only. Its services include passport and ID card applications, and legalisation and apostille. The Luxembourg foreign ministry page for the mission says the embassy serves Luxembourg citizens in the UAE and also handles visa applications for Luxembourg. We keep to the first role here. When you still need us
Your own entry is free. Help comes in other places:
- A longer stay. Past 90 days you extend or move to residence.
- Relatives on other passports. A friend or relative on a visa-required passport needs a sponsored visit visa. ICP lists AED 4,000 a month for first-degree relatives, AED 8,000 for second and third degree and AED 15,000 for friends.
- A job. The employer files the work permit and residence. See the UAE work permit guide.
- A move with family. A residence visa for a spouse and children, plus the Emirates ID.
If a guest needs a Luxembourg visa
Friends in Dubai sometimes ask you for help with a visa to Luxembourg. The two Luxembourg pages we read do not fully agree. The embassy page says short stay files go through VFS Global, and long stay files are handled by the embassy consular section in Abu Dhabi by appointment. The foreign ministry page names the embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of the Netherlands in Dubai for short stays. Before anyone books a slot, check the embassy page and ask which one applies.
Documents to carry
- Passport with enough validity. Check the airline's minimum.
- A return or onward ticket.
- A hotel booking or host address.
- Travel insurance valid in the UAE.
- Any residence papers if you already live here.

- Read the embassy page and the ministry's current advice.
- Put your trip on Guichet.lu.
- Ask the airline for its passport minimum.
- Note your entry date if you will be near 90 days.
- Let us know early about guests who need a visa.
