A Luxembourg visa from Dubai is a Schengen visa for stays up to 90 days, filed at VFS Global in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. The VFS Luxembourg page lists AED 385 for adults and a decision in 2 to 3 weeks. Work and any stay over 90 days is a separate long stay file, handled by the embassy in Abu Dhabi.
Two files, two places
Luxembourg splits its work in the UAE clearly.

The embassy page says that from the consulate works only with VFS Global for short stays. It also says the consular section will not answer questions about short stay files. Chasing a tourist visa by e-mail to the embassy will not get you an answer.
One thing the two official pages disagree on
The Luxembourg foreign ministry page for the UAE says something different. It sends short stay applicants to the embassy in Abu Dhabi or to the Consulate General of the Netherlands in Dubai, and it does not mention VFS. The embassy's own page, which is newer in wording, names VFS only. We follow the embassy page and the VFS Luxembourg page, which both describe a VFS counter. What Dubai agencies charge
Dubai agencies publish about AED 325 to AED 358 for a Luxembourg Schengen service (published prices of 2 Dubai agencies, checked ). That covers the agency's own fee. The visa fee and the VFS service fee are paid separately at the centre. Two agencies is a small sample, so treat it as a rough guide.
Documents for a short stay
VFS lists five reasons to travel: tourism or family and friends, business or official delegation, work permit, resident permit for family reunification, and student permit. Each has its own checklist. For a tourist or visit file expect:
- your passport, valid well past the trip, with free pages;
- a UAE residence permit and your Emirates ID;
- the Schengen form, signed, with a photo that meets the spec;
- medical cover for the whole trip, EUR 30,000 or more;
- bookings that match your dates night by night;
- recent statements and a letter from your employer approving leave.
For a visit to family or friends in Luxembourg, the checklist is different from a tourist one, so pick the right category before you book.
Timing
VFS gives 2 to 3 weeks from the date the application reaches the embassy. You can file up to 6 months before the trip and no later than 15 calendar days before it. Working in Luxembourg: the long stay route
Searches for "Luxembourg work visa from Dubai" lead to the type D visa. The embassy handles it by appointment, requested by e-mail, and it notes that new long stay regulations come into force on . We could not read the new rules, so we do not describe their content. Luxembourg's own immigration process also asks for a temporary authorisation to stay before the D visa in most work cases. We could not open that page, so confirm the order of steps with the embassy.
What we can do before the appointment: check that your contract, degree papers and passport match what the embassy asks, and flag translation or legalisation needs early. VFS also lists a work permit category for Luxembourg, so ask which counter takes which paper.
Common reasons for refusal
- You spend more nights in Belgium, Germany or France than in Luxembourg, so the wrong country is named.
- Gaps between hotel bookings.
- An employer letter or statements that do not back up the budget.
- A work plan filed as a short stay application.
