Dubai visa for Omanis

Omani citizens need no visa for Dubai. We file visas for the people travelling with you who hold other passports, and for expats living in Oman who want a UAE visit visa.

We file visas for non-Omani family and staff

Last updated

Omani citizens need no visa for the UAE. The u.ae government portal says GCC citizens do not need one, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists the Sultanate of Oman as visa free. The visas you may need are for the others in the car or on the plane: a spouse with a different passport, a housemaid, or friends who live in Oman. We file those.

Passport first

The u.ae page, updated , says passports must be valid for six months from entry. A short passport can cost you a trip even without a visa, so check the expiry before you book.

Many Omanis drive across. Times of Oman reported on that the Royal Oman Police allowed citizens to use the Civil ID at the land ports next to the UAE. We found no ROP page that says the same, and the report is old. The passport is the safer document, and a child or a passenger who is not Omani will need theirs in any case.

Who needs a visa in an Omani party

Person UAE visa
Omani citizen None
Non-Omani spouse or child Companion application
Domestic worker Companion application
Expat friend living in Oman GCC resident visa or visit visa
Tourist from abroad, flying in via Muscat The visa of their own passport

Fees for companions

ICP lists the companion visa at AED 50 service, AED 100 application and AED 100 issuance. We read the page in . These are government fees for each non-Omani spouse, child or worker, before any service charge.

Living in Oman but not Omani

Plenty of Dubai visa searches from Oman come from expats: an Indian engineer in Sohar, an Egyptian teacher in Salalah. They do not get the citizen rule. The GDRFA entry visa for GCC residents asks for an approved profession and a valid Omani residence card. UAE visa for Oman residents walks through fees, the profession check and the road routes. The reverse trip, UAE residents going into Oman, is on Oman visa for UAE residents.

Your embassy in the UAE

The Embassy of Oman in Abu Dhabi lists these consular services for Omani citizens: a lost or damaged passport (police report and photos, free), a newborn passport for AED 50, a passport renewal for AED 50 and an identity card renewal for AED 60. Passports renewed through the embassy are valid for one year only. The page makes no mention of a Dubai consulate, so a Dubai-based Omani should plan a trip to Abu Dhabi, or check the foreign ministry's site first.

If the trip turns into a longer stay

Citizens set their own pace. Companions get 60 days, and ICP stretches that to 120 days in total through extensions of AED 100 plus AED 500 each.

A spouse or children moving to the UAE for good need a residence visa, not a visit visa. The family visa guide covers it.

Mistakes we see with Oman trips

  • Booking the housemaid's ticket before her visa is approved.
  • Sending a passport photo with a coloured background.
  • Assuming a spouse with an Omani residence card follows the citizen rule. She does not unless she is a GCC citizen herself.
  • Letting a companion visa run out because the extension was filed on the last day.

Steps

  1. Check passport validity for every traveller.
  2. Send us the passport copies of anyone who is not Omani.
  3. We tell you which visa each person needs and give one total price.
  4. The team files the applications.
  5. Print the approved visas and carry them with the passports.

Timing and refusals

ICP states 2 days. A refusal usually traces back to an expiring passport, a blurry photo, or sponsor details that do not match the worker. Overstay fines run at AED 50 a day.

How it works with us

Message us the passport pages of your non-Omani travellers, or use the form here. An adviser decides who gets a companion visa and who gets a visit visa, then quotes a single total. Once you agree, the team files, follows up and emails the approved visas. This is a private business and ICP or GDRFA rules on each file.

On a refusal, the government fees are not returned by the authority. Your adviser states in writing, ahead of payment, which part of the total would come back, if any.

Official sources

All nationalities: Dubai visa by nationality. Longer family stays: Dubai family visit visa.

Get one total price

For a UAE visa for a non-Omani family member or an Oman resident: send the traveller's passport country, where they are now and the dates. A visa adviser replies with the right visa, the documents and one total price, fees included, before anything is filed or paid.

Good to know

Questions people ask

Do Omanis need a visa for Dubai?

No. u.ae states that GCC citizens do not need a visa to enter the UAE, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists the Sultanate of Oman as visa free. Take a valid passport, with at least six months left as the u.ae page asks.

Can an Omani drive into the UAE with the Civil ID?

Times of Oman reported that the Royal Oman Police allowed Omani citizens to use the Civil ID at the land ports next to the UAE. That is a media report, not an ROP page we could read. Take the passport too.

How do I get a Dubai visit visa from Oman if I am not Omani?

It depends on your passport and your Omani residence. A GCC resident entry visa exists for approved professions. Everyone else applies for a normal visit visa. The Oman residents page explains both routes and the fees.

Can my Filipino housemaid come to Dubai with my Omani family?

She needs her own visa. ICP lists domestic workers among the companions of GCC citizens, with AED 50, AED 100 and AED 100 in fees and a 60 day stay. We file it with her passport copy and photo.

Where do Omanis renew a passport while in the UAE?

The Embassy of Oman in Abu Dhabi lists passport renewal for AED 50. It says passports renewed through the embassy are valid for one year only. The page does not mention a Dubai consulate.

What does an Oman to Dubai visit visa cost?

For an Omani citizen, nothing, because there is no visa. A non-Omani visitor pays the visa type fee. GDRFA lists AED 210 for a 30 day single entry tourist visa, and Dubai agencies publish more once their service is added.

What happens if my Omani relative overstays in the UAE?

ICP states a fine of AED 50 for each day after the visa expires. This applies to people on a companion or visit visa. It does not apply to citizens, who enter without a visa.
