Visa-free; we file extensions and family visas

Last updated

Romanians do not need to apply for a Dubai visa. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists Romania as visa free, with a free multiple entry visit visa on arrival, valid six months, for up to 90 days in total. Our work begins where the free visa ends.

The passport rule that catches people

The Romanian foreign ministry's travel information site says Romanian citizens can enter the UAE only with an ordinary passport valid at least six months from the day of entry. It says the temporary passport is not recognised and that border police will refuse entry to its holders. The page dates from , so confirm it again before you fly.

The same page cites the EU and UAE agreement on short-stay visa exemption, in force from , and a stay of up to 90 days in any 180. Airlines check passports at the gate, so check yours before you book.

What is free and what costs money

Entry is free. If you want to stay past the allowance, ICP charges AED 100 for the extension application and AED 500 for each extension. It lists 2 days to process and a ceiling of 120 days in total for a tourist visit. A day over the permitted stay costs AED 50. Sources: MOFA visa exemptions page and the ICP extension and overstay pages, checked .

The extension guide has the steps. The overstay fine guide covers what happens when the date has passed.

A partner or parent with another passport

Nothing in your Romanian status covers other people. A Filipino, Indian or Moldovan partner, or a friend flying in from elsewhere, needs the visa that passport requires. For a short visit a licensed Dubai tourism company can file a GDRFA tourist visa. GDRFA lists AED 210 for 30 days, single entry.

A relative with UAE residence can also sponsor you through ICP. The salary tiers differ by relationship, and the Dubai family visit visa page lists them with the guarantee.

The Romanian consulate in Dubai

The EU consular protection directory lists the Consulate General of Romania in Dubai as Romania's representation in the UAE, with English and French as spoken languages and the website dubai.mae.ro. Use it for passport and civil documents. UAE visas come from UAE authorities, not from the consulate.

Living in the UAE and wanting a Romanian visa for yourself or a family member is a different question. See Romania visa from Dubai for that route.

Checklist before you fly

  1. Ordinary passport, not temporary, with six months left.
  2. A return or onward ticket, in case the airline asks.
  3. A note of earlier UAE entry dates, so the 90 days add up.
  4. Health insurance valid in the UAE, in case you need it for a later extension.

Timing and what slows a file

Entering costs no processing time. An ICP extension lists 2 days, but add a week of margin in case the system asks for one more document. A job, a business or a move is not an extension question at all: it is a residence file, and a longer visit stamp will never turn into one.

Residence for Romanians

Romanians move to the UAE through work, a company, an investment or a family sponsor. The UAE residence visa page lists the routes. Until residence is issued you remain a visitor, and the 90 day total keeps running.

How it works with us

Message us a photo of the passport page and your dates on WhatsApp, or use the form on this page. A visa adviser tells you whether you need nothing, an extension, a visa for a companion or a residence route, and gives one total price before anything is filed. After you agree, the team prepares the request, submits it and follows up. We are a private visa service, not a government office. ICP or GDRFA decides.

If a request is refused, the authority keeps its fee. Your adviser tells you in writing, before you pay, what share of our total would come back.

Get one total price

For a Dubai extension, family visa or residence for a Romanian passport holder: send the traveller's passport country, where they are now and the dates. A visa adviser replies with the right visa, the documents and one total price, fees included, before anything is filed or paid.

DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service. The authorities decide every application.

Questions people ask

Do Romanians need a visa for Dubai?

No. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists Romania as visa free. Romanians get a free multiple entry visit visa on arrival, valid six months, for up to 90 days in total. You do not apply in advance, but the passport must be in good order.

Can a Romanian enter Dubai with a temporary passport?

No. Romania's travel information site says the Romanian temporary passport is not recognised by UAE authorities and border police will refuse entry. Travel with an ordinary passport that has at least six months of validity left.

How long can a Romanian stay in Dubai?

The MOFA list gives 90 days in total on the free visa. Romania's own information site words it as 90 days in any 180. If you need longer, an ICP extension is possible and the ceiling for a tourist visit is 120 days.

How much does it cost a Romanian to extend a stay in Dubai?

The ICP extension page shows AED 100 for the application and AED 500 per extension, processed in 2 days. Apply before the stay runs out. Every extra day afterwards is fined at AED 50.

Where is the Romanian consulate in Dubai?

The EU consular protection directory lists the Consulate General of Romania in Dubai, in Jumeirah 1, as Romania's representation in the UAE. English and French are listed as spoken languages. Check its website before you go.

Can my Filipino or Indian partner join me in Dubai on my Romanian visit?

Your partner needs the visa their own passport asks for. Your Romanian status does not cover them. Either a Dubai tourism company files a GDRFA tourist visa, or a relative with UAE residence sponsors a visit visa through ICP.

Can a Romanian work in Dubai on the visa on arrival?

No. The free visa is for visiting. Employment needs a work permit and a residence visa filed by the employer, and you should not begin work until both are issued.
