Tongans cannot enter the UAE without a visa. The foreign ministry lists the Kingdom of Tonga as visa required before travel. A Dubai tourism firm, hotel or airline files a GDRFA tourist visa for AED 210 (30 days) or AED 315 (60 days), single entry. GDRFA lists 48 hours for a complete file.
The UAE side of the story
The UAE has no resident ambassador for Tonga. On the UAE's non-resident ambassador, H.E. Rashed Matar Alqemzi, presented his credentials to King Tupou VI. For you this means one thing: no UAE visa counter in Nuku'alofa. The visa is filed online by a company inside the UAE.

Planning a long Pacific trip
Flights from Tonga to the Gulf usually connect through Auckland, Sydney or another hub. Check the transit rules of each stop for a Tonga passport, since they are set by those countries, not by the UAE. We cover the UAE part only.

- A ticket back out of the UAE

Extending a visit

Refusal reasons
- A passport that is nearly out of date
- A scan with shadows or cut corners
- A host who earns under the ICP level
- A ticket that ends in the UAE instead of leaving it
