Living in the USA does not by itself change your Dubai visa. Your passport does. American passports need none: the UAE foreign ministry lists a free multiple entry visit visa on arrival, up to 90 days in total. Indians, Filipinos and five other nationalities can use US papers for an ICP 14-day or 60-day visa. Other passports file an ordinary tourist visa.

Three kinds of traveller in the US

An American passport. There is nothing to apply for. The ministry's page says visa free, with a 6-month validity and 90 days in total. Our page on Dubai visa for US citizens covers the stamp and how the 90 in 180 count works.

A passport from India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Kenya or South Africa, plus a US visa or green card. ICP's 60-day service for nationals living abroad takes a US visa, residence permit or green card as proof. Issuance is AED 250 and smart services AED 100, so AED 350 in all. The visa is single entry and ICP states 2 days. The 14-day visa is AED 100 and can be extended once, per ICP's announcement of .

A passport from anywhere else. A US visa does not replace an entry permit. You file an ordinary visit visa for 30 or 60 days, as set out on the 30-day Dubai visa.

What the US government says right now

The US Embassy and Consulate in the UAE posted its Travel Advisory on : Level 3, Reconsider Travel, due to terrorism and armed conflict. The update reflects increased potential for armed attacks by Iranian-supported Houthis. The level did not change.

The same text warns that breaking local rules, including those on recording officials or infrastructure, can lead to arrest, fines or an exit ban. It suggests STEP enrolment and travel insurance. This is travel safety advice, not a visa rule. Read it in full at the source below before you book.

What Dubai agencies charge

Dubai agencies publish about US$165 to US$205 for a 30-day single entry visa when the price is quoted in dollars (checked ). Those are other firms' prices with their service included, and not a quote from us.

Applying from the USA

The u.ae page on entry permits (updated ) points to ICP and GDRFA Dubai, and says Emirates and Etihad sell visa services too. Passports must have 6 months left. We could not open a UAE embassy visa page for the US, so we claim no embassy route. Treat it as an online filing.

Mind the clock. ICP states 2 days and GDRFA 48 hours. A file sent late on a US Friday reaches Dubai in its weekend, so leave a few spare days.

Papers you need

  • Passport, 6 months of validity after you land
  • White-background photo
  • US visa, green card or residence page, with 6 months left, if you use the ICP route
  • Flight back or onward
  • Health insurance valid in the UAE for tourist visas

Where US-based files go wrong

  • Passport under 6 months at arrival
  • A US visa expiring inside 6 months of the trip
  • A green card on a passport outside the seven-nationality list
  • Landing after the 30-day window on the ICP 60-day visa
  • Hoping to extend the 60-day visa, which ICP does not allow

How it works with us

Message your passport copy and the US visa or green card page on WhatsApp, or use the form on this page. An adviser reads your passport against the UAE rule, picks the route and tells you straight if you need nothing. One total price comes first, before any payment. The team lodges the file, tracks it and sends you the permit. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service. ICP or GDRFA makes the call.

A refusal means the authorities keep their fees. Before you pay, your adviser writes down which part of our total, if any, you would get back.

Questions people ask

How do I get a Dubai visa from the USA?

It depends on your passport, not on living in the US. American passports need no visa and get a free stamp on arrival. Other passports need a permit before travel, filed online through GDRFA, ICP, an airline or a visa service, not at a UAE embassy counter in the US.

Can I use my US green card to get a Dubai visa?

Only if you also hold an Indian, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, Filipino, Kenyan or South African passport. Then ICP's 14-day or 60-day visa accepts US papers. A green card on any other passport does not give a shortcut.

What is the cost of a Dubai tourist visa for someone in the US?

For Americans it is free. For other passports GDRFA lists AED 210 for a 30-day single entry visa. Dubai agencies publish about US$165 to US$205 for it, which includes their service fee. Our own total is confirmed before you pay.

Is it safe to travel to Dubai from the US right now?

The US embassy in the UAE posted a Level 3, Reconsider Travel, advisory updated on 23 October, citing terrorism and armed conflict. It is not a visa rule. Read the full text and the airline's current notices before you book.

How long can an American stay in Dubai on arrival?

The UAE foreign ministry lists a free multiple entry visit visa on arrival, valid 6 months, for up to 90 days in total. A longer stay needs a different visa, or a status change inside the country.

Do I need to apply through a UAE embassy in the US?

For a visit, not usually. The UAE entry-permit pages we read describe online applications through ICP and GDRFA, with airlines also selling visa services. We could not open any UAE embassy visa page in the US to confirm a different rule.

Which US consulate serves me if I live in Dubai?

The Consulate General in Dubai serves US citizens in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. The Embassy in Abu Dhabi serves Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Ruwais. Neither can help you enter a country without a visa.
