If your passport needs a visa for El Salvador and you have none, the country's immigration directory runs an online Special Entry Permit. It costs USD 100.00 on the page we read, and the directory says it is meant for people who cannot apply at a consulate. That is why many UAE residents use it.
Who needs a permit
The directory (DGME) publishes a list called "Paises que requieren visa para ingresar a El Salvador", dated . The download did not open for us, so we do not name nationalities here. We check your passport against the current list when you write to us. Holders of passports not on it simply travel.
The online permit, step by step
- Check that your nationality needs a visa.
- Create an account on the permit site of the directory.
- Fill in the form and attach the documents it asks for.
- Pay the USD 100.00 fee.
- Wait for the e-mail. The request can be approved, returned for corrections, denied or cancelled.
The page is dated , and the permit is meant for those who need a consular or consulted visa and do not hold one.
Other forms on the directory site
The visas page lists a consulted visa form, a multiple non-resident visa for 1 to 3 years, a frequent traveller card for investors and business people, and a form to extend a non-resident stay by 1 to 90 days. Fees for these are not on the page.
Embassy in the UAE
El Salvador opened a consular office at its UAE embassy in . A Salvadoran newspaper listed visa processing, passports and document authentication among its services. For a visa, call the embassy to confirm it handles your nationality.
