A UAE golden visa holder can sponsor a mother and father for residence. ICP lists parents among the family a golden holder may bring, and DLD prices each parent at AED 5,774.50 for 10 years on the Dubai property route, plus AED 318.75 to open the family file. Each parent needs a dependency certificate from their consulate, health insurance and the medical test.

This is a different path from the standard parent visa. Standard residents go through a GDRFA committee with a salary line and a deposit. The golden pages set no such figures.

Golden route versus the standard parent visa

Point Golden visa holder Standard Dubai resident
Legal basis Golden residence family rules (ICP) GDRFA humanitarian cases
Salary line none stated on golden pages AED 10,000 a month
Guarantee none stated on golden pages AED 5,000 per request, capped at AED 15,000
Permit length DLD prices it as 10 years 1 year, renewable
Key document consulate dependency certificate (DLD) attested tenancy and 3 months of bank statements

"None stated" means what it says. The golden pages are silent, which is not the same as a written exemption. GDRFA still expects every golden holder in Dubai to support themselves and their family without government support. Our parents visa in Dubai page explains the standard route in full.

Fees for one parent

Fee line Amount Source
Parent, 10-year permit (DLD route) AED 5,774.50 DLD
Family file opening (once) AED 318.75 DLD
Added per sponsored person AED 100 DLD
Medical, standard in Dubai AED 270 Dubai medical fee resolution
Emirates ID AED 100 per year plus AED 100 smart service ICP

On the property route the medical and Emirates ID may already be part of the DLD amount, so ask the centre for its line-by-line breakdown. On the GDRFA and ICP routes, the golden pages give no separate fee for a parent. ICP's general lines are AED 100 application, AED 100 per year and AED 100 smart service.

Two parents on the DLD route cost twice AED 5,774.50, plus one AED 318.75 file opening and AED 100 for each of them.

What Dubai agencies charge

Dubai firms publish about AED 2,992.90 to AED 4,500 for a golden visa family member (published prices of 2 Dubai firms, checked ). Neither lists parents as a separate line, so check that the quote covers a parent and the insurance. These are their prices, not ours. For the holder's own fees, see golden visa cost.

Documents for each parent

  • Passport valid for the process and a photo on white.
  • Dependency certificate from the parents' consulate or embassy (DLD route).
  • Your attested birth certificate, linking you to your parents.
  • Health insurance valid in the UAE. Price it early, as cover for older people can cost more; see health insurance for a residence visa.
  • Your golden residence, passport and Emirates ID.
  • Medical fitness result, since every parent is over 18.

Student holders: parents only

GDRFA's page for Dubai's top students is precise. High school achievers "are only permitted to sponsor their parents, excluding siblings." So a family that moved for a child's school can keep both parents here on the child's permit. Younger brothers and sisters need another sponsor, usually one of the parents on their own visa.

Keep the renewal question in view. GDRFA's student issuance page says student golden permits are not renewed after expiry, while another GDRFA service offers student renewal. If the child's permit lapses, the parents' permits fall with it. The golden visa for students page covers the grades and the renewal conflict.

Steps and timing

  1. Make sure your own golden residence is issued.
  2. Ask the consulate for the dependency certificate and attest your birth certificate.
  3. Arrange health insurance for each parent.
  4. File at the DLD centre (property route) or through GDRFA, Amer or ICP.
  5. Book the medicals and the Emirates ID biometrics.

DLD lists 7 to 10 business days. If your parents want to visit while the papers come together, the family visit visa for Dubai covers short stays.

Why parent files are held up

  • No dependency certificate. DLD asks for it, and some consulates take time to issue it.
  • Insurance refused or capped by age. Shop around before you file.
  • Medical result. Every parent takes the test, and a failed result stops the residence.
  • Parents-in-law listed by mistake. Golden pages name parents only; raise in-laws separately.
  • Your own condition lapses. The parents' permits sit on your golden file.

If you die while holding the golden visa, ICP says your parents can stay until their own permits expire. For your spouse and children, see golden visa for family.

How it works with us

Send your golden residence copy and your parents' passports on WhatsApp, or fill in the form on this page. A visa adviser checks your category and channel, tells you which consulate letter and attestation each parent needs, and flags any insurance issue linked to age. You get one total price, confirmed on WhatsApp before you pay. The team files each parent, books the medicals and follows the files to the Emirates ID. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service, not DLD, GDRFA or ICP, and those authorities decide on each parent.

If a parent's permit is refused, DLD, GDRFA and ICP keep their fees. Your adviser tells you in writing, before you pay, which part of the total, if any, is returned in that case.

Questions people ask

Can I sponsor my parents on a UAE golden visa?

Yes. ICP lists parents among the family members a golden holder may sponsor for residence. On the Dubai property route DLD also accepts parents, with a dependency certificate from the parents' consulate.

How much does it cost to sponsor a parent on a golden visa?

DLD lists AED 5,774.50 per parent for a 10-year permit on the property route, plus AED 318.75 to open the family file and AED 100 per person. Add health insurance, which DLD asks for on the family file.

Do I need a AED 10,000 salary to sponsor parents on a golden visa?

The AED 10,000 salary line comes from the GDRFA humanitarian route for standard residents. The golden pages we checked set no salary figure for sponsoring parents. GDRFA does ask every golden holder to support themselves and their family without government help.

Is there a deposit for parents on a golden visa?

The golden pages do not mention one. The AED 5,000 per request guarantee belongs to the standard humanitarian route. Ask the channel handling your file to confirm before you pay.

Can a student with a golden visa sponsor parents?

Yes. In Dubai, high school students who earned a golden visa may sponsor only their parents, not their brothers or sisters. The parents' residence then depends on the student's permit.

Can my parents stay abroad for long periods on my golden visa?

Golden holders are exempt from the 180-day stay abroad rule. The pages we read do not say whether that extends to sponsored parents, so ask GDRFA or ICP before your parents plan a long stay outside the UAE.

Can I sponsor my parents-in-law on a golden visa?

The ICP and DLD golden pages name parents only. They do not mention parents-in-law. Ask the channel for your category before applying, or look at the standard humanitarian route, which covers parents-in-law.
