A UAE golden visa decision takes 48 hours to 10 business days. GDRFA Dubai lists 48 hours for skilled professionals and humanitarian pioneers and 5 days for investors, entrepreneurs, talent and students. ICP lists 2 days. Dubai property files at a DLD centre take 7 to 10 business days. A nomination, the medical and the Emirates ID add time before and after.
Those are the official service times. They run from a complete file, not from the day you start gathering papers.

The odd one out is property. DLD counts business days, and the centre handles the medical and ID in the same package, so the 7 to 10 days cover more than the GDRFA times do.
The full timeline, step by step
The official time is one link in a chain. Here is the order most files follow.
- Eligibility proof. Bank freeze letters, audited accounts, salary certificates and attested degrees all take time to collect. This is usually the longest step and it is fully in your hands.
- Nomination, where needed. Creatives, athletes, inventors, scientists, healthcare specialists, humanitarian pioneers and Dubai entrepreneurs need a letter from the nominating body first. None of the bodies we checked publish a time.
- ICP approval, for some Dubai files. Students and some nominated categories need ICP approval before GDRFA issues.
- Entry, if you are abroad. ICP issues a six-month multiple-entry visa so you can come in. You can extend it once for six more months for AED 1,000.
- The decision. 48 hours, 2 days, 5 days, or 7 to 10 business days, as in the table.
- Medical and Emirates ID. You pick the medical speed. The ID card follows biometrics.
Paid speed options
You cannot pay to make GDRFA or ICP decide faster. You can pay for a quicker medical and, in some centres, a quicker ID.

What to have ready so the clock does not stop
- Attested degree, with the Ministry of Education recognition report for foreign degrees.
- Six months of salary transfers in your bank statement, if you apply as a skilled professional.
- A bank certificate showing the AED 2,000,000 deposit is frozen for at least two years, for the deposit route.
- A DLD property status certificate or a valuation from a DLD-licensed office if the title deed alone does not show the value.
- A bank no-objection letter for a mortgaged unit.
- Health insurance for you and each family member you plan to add.
- The nomination letter, in the name that matches your passport.
Why golden visa files stall
- A query from GDRFA. The count pauses until you answer. Reply on the same file, not with a new application.
- Name mismatches. A nomination letter or title deed that spells your name differently from the passport is sent back.
- Waiting on ICP approval. For Dubai students the GDRFA 5 days start only after ICP has approved.
- Booking the DLD visit late. Only the owner may attend, so your travel dates decide when the 7 to 10 days begin.
- Family added too early. Sponsored family files open after your own residence is issued, so plan their entry once yours is through. See golden visa for family.
Practical tips
Apply for the medical on the same day your file is approved if you are already in Dubai. If you are abroad, book your flight only after the six-month entry visa is issued, and leave room inside its validity for a GDRFA query.
