A wife can sponsor her husband in Dubai on a family residence visa. GDRFA says male and female residents can both bring family, "including the husband". You need the same salary as any sponsor, AED 4,000 a month or AED 3,000 plus accommodation, and an attested marriage certificate. Government fees from abroad are about AED 1,020 for two years, with 48 hours per GDRFA stage.
The rules for him match the rules for a wife. What changes is the paperwork around the children and the timing when his own job ends.
What the official pages say, and what agencies claim
| Source | On a woman sponsoring her husband |
|---|---|
| GDRFA family residence page | Male and female residents may bring family, husband included |
| GDRFA family entry permit page | Salary of AED 4,000, or AED 3,000 with housing; father's no objection if the wife sponsors |
| u.ae family residence page | Employees can sponsor family whatever their job title |
| ICP issuing residency page | No separate condition for a female sponsor |
| Some agency websites | A higher salary for women, decided case by case |

The last row is not official. We could not find the higher figure on any GDRFA, ICP or u.ae page, and the agencies that repeat it do not link one. It may be an older rule that stayed on blogs. If a counter quotes it to you, ask which current service condition it comes from.
The father's no objection letter
This is the one paper that changes when a mother sponsors. When the wife is the sponsor, GDRFA asks for a no objection letter from the father for the children's entry permits. It is a document in the children's files, not in your husband's. If he is moving onto your sponsorship at the same time, he can sign it here.
Stepchildren are different. If you sponsor your husband's children from an earlier marriage, or he sponsors yours, that goes through GDRFA's humanitarian route. There the father's no objection must be attested when it was issued outside the UAE. More on the children visa page.

Insurance and attestation come on top. Dubai visa agencies publish about AED 2,000 to AED 6,500 for a spouse's first two-year visa all in, and the same range applies to a husband (published cost guides of 4 Dubai firms, checked ). The full fee list is on family visa cost in Dubai.
When his job ends
Often a wife becomes the sponsor because her husband's job has ended. Then the order of steps matters.
- His employer cancels his work permit and his residence. See employment visa cancellation.
- His grace period starts. GDRFA lists 60 days after a cancellation.
- You file his family entry permit from inside the UAE and pay the in-country fees.
- GDRFA amends his status, then he does the medical and biometrics.
If the children were on his file, their visas move to you in the same round, with his no objection letter.
Documents checklist
Your side, as sponsor
- Passport, residence and Emirates ID
- Employment contract and salary certificate
- Tenancy contract for the home you share
- Partnership contract, if you sponsor as a company partner
His side
- Passport valid at least 6 months, and a photo on white
- Attested marriage certificate
- Cancellation paper for his old residence, if he had one
- Medical fitness result and health insurance
Processing time
GDRFA states 48 hours for the entry permit and 48 hours for the residence. ICP states 2 days for families outside Dubai. If he comes in from abroad, he has 60 days after entry to finish everything.
Work after the move
The family residence pages we read say nothing about a sponsored husband taking a job. Ask the employer or MOHRE before he accepts an offer. A UAE work permit explains the employer's side.
Common refusal reasons
- His old employment visa still active when you apply.
- Salary certificate under AED 4,000 with no housing shown.
- Marriage certificate missing the MOFA stamp.
- The children's files sent without the father's letter.
- Your residence close to expiry.
How it works with us
Send your residence, salary certificate and your husband's passport and current visa status on WhatsApp, or through the form on this page. A visa adviser checks whether his old visa is cancelled, whether your salary letter passes and whether the children need moving too. You get one total price before paying. The team files his entry permit and status change, books his medical and biometrics, and follows the residence through. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service. GDRFA or ICP decides the application.
The authorities keep their fees if the permit is refused. Before you pay, the adviser confirms in writing which part of our total, if any, is refunded in that case.
