Sharjah immigration office

Sharjah immigration is handled by ICP, not GDRFA. The main office is the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs on Airport Street, Al Rahmaniya.

Last updated

The Sharjah immigration office is the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs, run by the federal authority ICP. It sits on Airport Street, Bridge No. 6, in the Al Rahmaniya area. ICP lists it open Monday to Thursday 7:30 am to 8:00 pm and Friday 7:00 am to 11:30 am. Sharjah does not use GDRFA, which is Dubai's authority.

What the Al Rahmaniya directorate does

ICP's page lists four departments: Identity and Passports, Entry Visas and Residency, Establishments Registration and Follow-up, and Foreign Violators Affairs. Staff answer questions on family data, passports, visas, residence permits and establishment registration. The site lists typing offices, a digital services corner, parking, prayer rooms and a cafeteria.

If you have a problem with a file, an overstay or a violation, the Foreign Violators department is the one named for it.

What about Amer in Sharjah?

Many people search "Amer center Sharjah". Amer is GDRFA's brand for its service centres in Dubai. The GDRFA pages we read describe Amer centres across the emirate of Dubai. The ICP pages for Sharjah talk about customer happiness centres and the directorate, and do not use the Amer name. So if you want a counter in Sharjah, use the ICP list above.

Typing offices appear in the facilities of the Al Rahmaniya building. They help with forms. They are separate from ICP.

Online services for Sharjah files

Most Sharjah visa work does not need a trip. ICP offers these on its smart services platform:

  • Application tracking for a request that is still in progress.
  • File validity for a visa or residence that has been issued.
  • Payment of visa or residence violation fines.

Our ICP visa status check guide goes field by field. If your visa was issued in Dubai, use the GDRFA tool described in Dubai visa status check.

Overstay fines in Sharjah

ICP's payment service lists the fine at AED 50 per day and a smart services fee of AED 100. It is available 24/7 on the website and the app, with UAE Pass. ICP also states that after paying, the status must be adjusted or the person must leave the UAE. For the grace periods and the full rules, read UAE overstay fine and Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and northern emirates overstay fine.

Sharjah, Dubai and the other emirates

u.ae divides the country in two for visas. Dubai belongs to GDRFA. Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah belong to ICP. That is why a Sharjah resident who works in Dubai can hold a Sharjah visa and still never visit a GDRFA centre. The place of issue is printed on your visa or residence details, and it tells you which authority to use for tracking, validity and fines.

ICP also lists a Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department in Khorfakkan, in the Al Mudifi area, so there is a residency office outside the Sharjah city side too.

Planning your visit

  • Bring the passport, Emirates ID if you have one, and the visa or application number.
  • Try the online service first. Tracking, validity and fines do not need a counter.
  • Friday is short. Al Ghubaiba reopens on Friday afternoon, the main directorate does not.
  • A file issued in Dubai belongs to GDRFA, see Dubai immigration office.

If you live in Sharjah and want to sponsor family or renew a residence, see Sharjah visa and Sharjah residence visa.

We are a private visa service, not ICP, and we cannot approve a visa. The authorities decide.

What are the Sharjah immigration office hours?

ICP lists Monday to Thursday 7:30 am to 8:00 pm and Friday 7:00 am to 11:30 am for the Al Rahmaniya directorate. Hours can change around holidays, so check the ICP page before you go.

Is there an Amer centre in Sharjah?

Amer is the name GDRFA uses for its service centres in Dubai. The ICP pages we read for Sharjah do not use that name. They list ICP customer happiness centres and the Al Rahmaniya directorate. Use ICP's list to find the right place.

How do I check my Sharjah visa status online?

Use ICP smart services. Application tracking follows a request in progress and file validity checks an issued visa. Log in details and fields are on the ICP site. Dubai visas are checked on GDRFA instead.

ICP has a service for paying visa and residence violation fines. The fine is AED 50 a day and the smart services fee is AED 100. It runs 24/7 on the website and app with UAE Pass. After paying you must fix your status or leave.

Can I do fingerprints for Emirates ID in Sharjah without going to Al Rahmaniya?

ICP lists the Al Ghubaiba customer happiness centre, inside the Al Ghubaiba Preventive Medical Center, for fingerprint capture for UAE ID card services. It has longer weekday hours than the main directorate.

Does the Sharjah immigration office issue Dubai visas?

No. Dubai visas are issued by GDRFA Dubai. ICP's Sharjah offices deal with files from Sharjah and the other emirates under ICP. If your visa says Dubai, use GDRFA channels.
