South Sudan needs a visa for UAE residents, and the UAE foreign ministry advises residents not to go. On it advised UAE nationals and residents against travel to South Sudan unless absolutely necessary, because of the Ebola situation. We check the entry papers, but we do not promise a visa.
What the two governments advise
- UAE foreign ministry, : advises UAE nationals and residents against travel to Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and South Sudan unless absolutely necessary, in light of Ebola virus disease.
- UK foreign office, page updated : advises against all travel to South Sudan because of armed violence and criminality.
If you go anyway for work, family or aid duty, read the UK entry page below too. Insurers often treat travel against official advice differently.
The visa route
The UK entry page says you must have a visa to enter or travel through South Sudan. You can apply on the e-visa site, evisa.gov.ss, or through an embassy. The e-visa site describes three steps: apply online, pay, and download the visa within 72 hours. It shows no fee, visa types or nationality list, so we do not quote a price.
Your UAE residence does not change this. We found no rule giving UAE residents a visa waiver for South Sudan. Your passport still decides the details, and we check them with you.
Health and arrival rules
| Item | Rule from the UK entry page |
|---|---|
| Yellow fever certificate | Required to enter |
| Police registration | Required if you stay 5 days or more |
| Land border from DRC or Uganda | Health screening such as temperature checks |
| Juba airport | Officers have detained and expelled foreigners over vaccination proof, visas and work permits |
Read on the UK foreign office entry page on . It lists no fees.
What we check with you
- Passport with enough validity and blank pages
- Your yellow fever certificate, with the date and the details matching your passport
- UAE residence visa and Emirates ID
- Invitation or employer letter
- Return ticket and accommodation
South Sudan's mission in the UAE
The UAE foreign ministry's list of foreign missions includes the Republic of South Sudan. The ministry also reported receiving the credentials copy of South Sudan's ambassador on . We could not read a South Sudan government page about its visa service here, so ask the mission what it can do for you.
How it works with us
Send your passport page and the reason you need to go. An adviser reads the live e-visa site with you and tells you if we can take the file. If yes, a single price is agreed in writing, and our team prepares the application and checks it. We are a private visa service. South Sudan's authorities decide each visa and each entry.
We know of no refund of South Sudan's own fee after a refusal. Before you pay, the adviser writes down what share of our price, if any, would come back.
