Yemen visa for UAE residents

We tell you what the governments say about Yemen and check your documents, but we do not promise a visa. The UK and Canada both advise against all travel there.

We explain the warnings and do not promise a visa

Last updated

Yemen is closed to normal tourism. The UK advises against all travel to the whole of Yemen, last updated . Canada says avoid all travel, including the island of Socotra, updated . We do not sell a Yemen visa or promise one.

What the governments say

Government Advice Other points
UK (FCDO) Against all travel to the whole of Yemen Embassy services in Sana'a suspended; flight cancellations and airspace closures
Canada Avoid all travel, including Socotra Flights extremely limited; no Canadian office in Yemen

Canada cites armed conflict, terrorist attacks and kidnapping. The UK says it cannot help with evacuation.

The entry rule we could read

The UK entry page, written for British passports, says a visa is mandatory and must be applied for through the Yemeni Embassy in the UK. The passport must be valid at least 6 months beyond arrival. A stay over 14 days needs passport registration with Yemeni immigration. Foreign currency over USD 3,000 must be declared. We found no Yemeni visa fee or processing time on a page we could read, and no price from Dubai agencies, so we show none.

Embassy in the UAE

A directory lists the Embassy of Yemen in Abu Dhabi and a consulate in Dubai. We could not open an official page, so we do not state its services or fees.

What we can do

  • Check your passport validity and the documents the embassy asks for.
  • Tell you honestly when a trip is not sensible.
  • Help with your UAE side: a re-entry plan, your residence validity, and visas for relatives who want to visit you here (see the Dubai visa for Yemenis).

Watch your UAE residence. A residence visa is cancelled if you stay outside the UAE for more than 180 consecutive days.

How it works with us

Send your passport copy and plans on WhatsApp or through the form on this page. An adviser tells you what the governments say and what we can check. We will not sell you a Yemen visa we cannot support. We are a private visa service, and Yemen decides every entry.

If the embassy refuses a visa, its fee is not returned. Before you pay for any service, your adviser tells you in writing which part of our total, if any, comes back.

Questions people ask

Can UAE residents travel to Yemen?

The UK advises against all travel to the whole of Yemen, and Canada says avoid all travel. Neither sets a rule by UAE residence. Entry depends on your passport and on Yemeni authorities, so check before you spend money.

Do you need a visa for Yemen?

For British passports, the UK entry page says a visa is mandatory and must be sought through the Yemeni Embassy in the UK. We found no rule that changes with UAE residence, so ask the embassy about your passport.

Are there flights from Dubai to Yemen?

We did not confirm any route. Canada says commercial flights are extremely limited and may be suspended without notice, and the UK warns of cancellations and periodic airspace closures. Ask your airline before you book.

Where can I apply for a Yemen visa in the UAE?

A directory lists the Embassy of Yemen in Abu Dhabi and a consulate in Dubai. We could not open an official page, so confirm what they handle and their opening times before you go.

How long can I stay in Yemen?

The UK page says a stay of more than 14 days needs passport registration with Yemeni immigration. It does not give a standard visa length for UAE residents, and we did not find one.

What can I carry into Yemen?

The UK page says importing or exporting Yemeni currency is prohibited and foreign currency over USD 3,000 must be declared. Bring US dollars in cash, as ATMs are scarce outside Sana'a.
