In Abu Dhabi you extend and cancel visas through ICP. A visit visa extension costs AED 100 plus AED 500 and takes about 2 days. Tourist stays cap at 120 days in total. Cancelling a residence permit costs AED 50 plus AED 100 smart services. The Abu Dhabi emirate follows the same federal ICP rules as Sharjah and the northern emirates.
Which office handles Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi is not GDRFA. The Abu Dhabi Regulatory Office points applicants to smartservices.icp.gov.ae for entry visas and fees. Dubai's own extension fee of AED 600 plus VAT does not apply here: see Dubai visa extension if your visa was issued in Dubai.

Rules from the same page:
- Most visit visas extend once, for an equal period.
- Tourism extensions stop at 120 days in total.
- Medical treatment and study visas can go to 180 days in total.
- Border area, truck driver and maritime worker visas cannot be extended.
- You need a passport and a photo, plus the papers used when the visa was issued, depending on the type.
Visa on arrival works differently. The Abu Dhabi Regulatory Office says it is valid for 30 days with a 10 day period for extension. A visit visa holder also gets 10 days to obtain an extension before fines accrue.
What Dubai agencies charge
Dubai visa agencies publish about AED 1,100 to AED 1,200 for a 30-day extension inside the UAE (published prices of 3 Dubai agencies, checked ). That bundles the government fee with the agency's service. It is not our price.
Cancellation: which one do you mean
Searches for "Abu Dhabi visa cancellation" mean two different things.
Entry visa cancellation (a visa not yet used). ICP charges AED 50 plus AED 100 smart services. It is allowed only if the visitor has not entered the UAE and the visa has not expired. After entry, a tourist visa cannot be cancelled unless it is linked to a status adjustment. Takes 2 days.
Residence visa cancellation. The sponsor files on the ICP Smart Services website or app with UAE Pass.

ICP lists a passport as the usual document. Investors and partners may need a commercial licence cancellation, and a death certificate in some cases. An employee's work permit is cancelled with MOHRE first. See residence visa cancellation and employment visa cancellation for the steps.
After cancellation: the grace period
Once a residence permit is cancelled or expires, ICP gives a window before fines start: 180 days for Golden, Green and Blue holders, 90 days for skilled workers levels 1 to 3 and property owners, 60 days for guarantor permits and 30 days for all other categories. Both services run online 24/7 with UAE Pass. For in-person help, ICP lists customer happiness centres in Abu Dhabi (Al Mushrif, Khalifa City A, Mussafah, Al Ain, Madinat Zayed and others). The page gives no opening hours, so check before you go.
