Dubai visa for Danes

Danish passport holders need no visa before Dubai. We check your entry, file stay extensions and arrange visas for a partner or children on other passports.

We check entry, extensions and family visas

Last updated

Danes do not need a visa for the UAE. The foreign ministry lists Denmark as visa free: a free multiple entry visit visa on arrival, valid 6 months, for up to 90 days in total. We handle what happens next to it: a longer stay, a partner on another passport, or a move to the UAE.

What Denmark's own advice adds

The Danish foreign ministry, in an entry page last updated , adds three points the UAE list does not stress:

  • The passport must be valid 6 months from the entry date.
  • Extended Danish passports are not accepted, and emergency passports are only accepted for leaving, with the right papers.
  • A minor travelling alone or with one parent should carry a power of attorney from the custody holders.

Its separate travel advice, updated , warns about drugs, some medicines, public drinking and social media posts.

Extensions and costs

Item Fee
Visa on arrival, up to 90 days Free
Extension in Dubai (GDRFA) AED 600 plus 5% VAT
Extension elsewhere (ICP) AED 100 application plus AED 500

A partner or child who is not Danish

Your visa-free entry does not pass to a spouse holding another passport. Send that passport page and we check its rule. If a visa is needed, we file it with the right authority.

Danish consular help

The embassy in Abu Dhabi does not meet visitors. Consular work (passports, attestations, travel documents) goes to the Consulate General in Dubai, by appointment. The Danish consulate says applications for a Schengen visa or a Danish residence permit go through VFS Global. That is a separate path from this page. See Denmark visa from Dubai.

How it works with us

Send us your plans and the passports involved. An adviser reads each one, says what is free and what needs a filing, and quotes one total for the filing. We submit it and chase it. We are a private visa service, and GDRFA or ICP decides.

Fees paid to the authorities do not come back after a refusal. Your adviser writes down, before payment, what part of our total would.

Questions people ask

Do Danes need a visa for Dubai?

No. The UAE foreign ministry lists Denmark as visa free, and the Danish foreign ministry says the same. You get a free multiple entry visit visa on arrival, valid 6 months, for up to 90 days in total.

How long must a Danish passport be valid for the UAE?

The Danish foreign ministry says the passport must be valid 6 months from the date you enter. It also says extended Danish passports are not accepted.

Can a Danish child travel to Dubai with one parent?

Danish advice says minors travelling alone or with only one parent should carry a power of attorney from the custody holders. Get it before you leave, as airline staff can ask for it at check-in.

Where does a Dane get consular help in the UAE?

At the Danish Consulate General in Dubai, by appointment. The embassy in Abu Dhabi handles political matters and does not receive visitors. The consulate books passport appointments through UM.BOOK.

Can a Danish resident extend a Dubai stay past 90 days?

An extension is possible before the stay ends. GDRFA lists AED 600 plus 5% VAT and caps tourist stays at 120 days in total. A longer stay needs residence, which an employer or sponsor files.

Is alcohol or medicine a problem for Danes in the UAE?

Danish travel advice, updated 22 June, bans drugs of any kind and some medicines. Drinking in public is banned outside hotels, restaurants and bars, and Sharjah is dry. Check your medicine with the UAE health ministry first.
