Dutch citizens get a free 90 day visa stamp on arrival in the UAE, so no visa is needed before the flight. The catch is the passport itself: the Dutch government warns that a passport showing X as gender, an incomplete date of birth, or only one name cannot enter. We check your passport first, then handle extensions and relatives who need a visa.
Passport details that block entry
This is the part Dutch travellers rarely hear about. NederlandWereldwijd, the Dutch government's travel site, last changed its UAE advice on . It says you cannot enter the UAE when your passport:
- shows X as gender;
- has an incomplete date of birth;
- carries only a first name or only a last name.
Check the photo page of every family passport, children included. Passport validity is the other test: it must have at least 6 months left on the day you arrive. If the passport fails any of these, a visa will not fix it. A new passport will. Send us the photo page and we tell you if anything is wrong, before you pay for tickets.
The entry rule
The UAE foreign ministry lists the Netherlands as visa free. The Dutch advice describes what you get: a free visa stamp in the passport at arrival, valid for 90 days. The UAE list adds that it is multiple entry, valid for 6 months and up to 90 days in total. Read more on the UAE visa on arrival page.
What it costs to stay longer
| Item | Official fee |
|---|---|
| Entry on a Dutch passport | Free |
| Extension application | AED 100 |
| Each extension | AED 500 |
| Overstay fine | AED 50 per day |

Dutch warnings on local rules
The Dutch advice colours most of the UAE yellow and Abu Musa and the Tunb islands red. It also names regional tension and terrorism risk, and it lists severe penalties, up to the death penalty, plus strict rules on drugs, LGBTIQ+ conduct and behaviour in public. These are the Dutch government's words, not ours. Read the page before you go.
Dutch consular help in the UAE
The Netherlands runs an Embassy in Abu Dhabi and a Consulate General in Dubai. NederlandWereldwijd says both are reachable at any hour, every day, through its contact centre, by phone or WhatsApp. Use that for emergencies and passport loss. We handle the UAE visa side only.
Travelling with someone on another passport
The free stamp is for the Dutch passport. A partner from outside the EU might need a tourist visa before flying, or a short visa if they hold a residence permit abroad and their nationality is on ICP's list. Send both passports. We check each one and file what is needed. Fees for standard visas are in the 30-day Dubai visa guide.
Staying for good
The free stamp is for visits. If you take a job, invest or join a partner, you move to a residence visa, filed inside the UAE. Read the UAE residence visa guide for the routes. A Dutch resident who sponsors a spouse or child needs a monthly salary of AED 4,000, or AED 3,000 plus accommodation. The family visa salary rule explains the conditions.
Searching for a Netherlands visa from Dubai?
If you live in the UAE and want to visit the Netherlands, you need a Schengen visa, and that is a separate file. See Netherlands visa from Dubai.
How it works with us
Send your passport photo page and dates on WhatsApp or through the form on this page. An adviser checks the passport rules above and tells you what, if anything, you need. You get one total price before you pay. The team files the extension or visa and follows it with the authorities. We are a private visa service and not the government. ICP or GDRFA decides.
A refused request means the government keeps its fee. Before you pay, your adviser puts in writing what part of our total would come back, if any.
