Dubai visa for Kuwaitis

Kuwaiti citizens need no visa for Dubai. We file visas for the maid, driver or relatives travelling with you who hold other passports, and visit visas for expats who live in Kuwait.

We file visas for non-Kuwaiti staff and relatives

Last updated

Kuwaiti citizens do not need a visa for Dubai. The UAE foreign ministry lists the State of Kuwait as visa free, and u.ae says GCC citizens need no visa to enter the UAE. The people around you are another matter. A maid, a driver, a non-Kuwaiti wife or a friend who lives in Kuwait on a residence permit may each need a visa, and we file those.

The passport rule

The u.ae entry page, updated , asks for a passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry. Check the expiry before you buy tickets.

The ID card is less clear. Kuwait Times has reported that the Kuwaiti civil ID may be used for travel inside the GCC, and that it does not replace a valid passport. The UAE's own page does not say it, and we could not open a Kuwaiti ministry page that does. Treat the card as a back-up and bring the passport.

Who needs what

Traveller UAE visa
Kuwaiti citizen None
Non-Kuwaiti wife or child Companion application
Maid or driver Companion application
Expat living in Kuwait GCC resident visa or visit visa
Friend flying from another country The visa for their own passport

What the companion visa costs

ICP lists the companion service for wives, children and domestic workers of GCC citizens at three lines: AED 50, AED 100 and AED 100. The stay is 60 days, and ICP extends it to 120 days in total (checked ). A normal GDRFA tourist visa for a friend is AED 210 for 30 days, single entry. Services add their own charge, and we give you one total before you pay.

The Dubai family visit visa page explains the sponsor route when a resident, not a Kuwaiti, is hosting. For staff, see maid visa Dubai and driver visa Dubai if they will live and work in the UAE rather than travel with you.

Expats who live in Kuwait

A Kuwaiti passport is what gets the no-visa rule. An Indian engineer or a Syrian teacher in Kuwait City does not hold one. Their route is the GDRFA entry visa for GCC residents, which needs a valid GCC residence permit and a profession on the approved list, decided case by case. If the profession is not accepted, a visit visa is the fallback. The detail is on UAE visa for Kuwait residents. Going the other way, from Dubai to Kuwait, is on Kuwait visa for UAE residents.

Kuwait's consulate in Dubai

On the UAE foreign ministry's Dubai office received the credentials of Kuwait's Consul General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. So there is a Kuwaiti Consulate General in the city, in addition to the embassy in Abu Dhabi. We could not read an official Kuwaiti page on its services, so ask the consulate which services and hours apply before you go.

Staying longer than the companion permit

Citizens come and go as the border allows. Your companions are on a clock. Count 60 days from arrival, and file the extension before the last day. A late exit costs AED 50 per day, as the overstay fine page shows.

If the plan is to move the household to Dubai, that is a residence matter, not a longer visit. The family visa guide lists the route, and the work visa guide covers a job.

Common mistakes

  • Booking the maid's ticket before her visa exists.
  • Sending a photo on a coloured background.
  • Treating a non-Kuwaiti spouse with a Kuwait residence permit as if she were a citizen.
  • Waiting for the last day to extend.

How it works with us

Send the passport scans of the non-Kuwaiti travellers on WhatsApp or through the form. An adviser separates citizens from people who need paper, tells you which visa fits each person and quotes one total price. After you agree, the team files and follows up each request, and you receive the visas by email. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service, and ICP or GDRFA decides.

If a visa is refused, the authority keeps its fee. Before you pay, the adviser writes down what part of our total would come back, if any.

Get one total price

For a UAE visa for a non-Kuwaiti relative, worker or Kuwait resident: send the traveller's passport country, where they are now and the dates. A visa adviser replies with the right visa, the documents and one total price, fees included, before anything is filed or paid.

Questions people ask

Do Kuwaitis need a visa for Dubai?

No. The UAE foreign ministry lists the State of Kuwait as visa free, and u.ae says GCC citizens do not need a visa to enter the UAE. It asks for a passport valid at least six months from the date of entry.

Can a Kuwaiti enter Dubai with the civil ID card?

Kuwait Times has reported that the Kuwaiti civil ID can be used within the GCC, but we could not confirm it on an official page. Carry the passport as well, and check with your airline before you fly.

Does my Filipino maid need a visa to travel with my family from Kuwait to Dubai?

Yes. A maid who is not a GCC citizen needs a UAE visa. ICP lists domestic workers among the companions of GCC citizens, with fees of AED 50, AED 100 and AED 100 and a 60-day stay.

How much is a Kuwait to Dubai visit visa for my non-Kuwaiti wife?

The ICP companion service for wives, children and domestic workers of GCC citizens lists AED 50, AED 100 and AED 100, plus any service charge. The stay is 60 days and ICP extends to 120 days in total.

Is there a Kuwaiti consulate in Dubai?

Yes. The UAE foreign ministry's Dubai office received the credentials of Kuwait's Consul General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates on 14 January. The Kuwaiti embassy itself is in Abu Dhabi.

I live in Kuwait but I am not Kuwaiti. How do I visit Dubai?

You do not get the citizen rule. If your Kuwait residence and profession qualify, you apply for the GCC resident entry visa. Otherwise you file a visit visa. Our Kuwait residents page explains both.

Can I work in Dubai on a Kuwaiti passport?

Entering without a visa does not give you the right to work. A job needs a work permit and residence, filed by the employer. Our work visa guide lists the steps for Kuwaiti and other jobseekers.
