Dubai visa for Qataris

Qatari citizens need no visa for Dubai. We file visas for family members, drivers and domestic workers who are not Qatari, and visit visas for expats who live in Qatar.

We file visas for non-Qatari family and staff

Last updated

Qatari citizens do not need a visa for Dubai. u.ae says so for all GCC citizens, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists Qatar as visa free. Our work starts with the people around you: relatives with other passports, a driver, a nanny, or friends who live in Doha on a residence permit. For them we choose the right visa and file it.

The passport rule

The u.ae entry page, updated , asks for a passport valid at least six months from entry. That matters for the flight check-in as much as for the border.

On ID cards, Gulf Times reported on that Qatar's Ministry of Interior let Qatari and other GCC citizens use ID cards for travel within the GCC. We could not open a ministry page with the same wording. Carry the passport, and treat the ID card as the second document.

Quick table: who needs what

Traveller UAE visa
Qatari citizen None
Non-Qatari spouse or child Companion application
Driver, nanny or maid Companion application
Expat living in Qatar GCC resident visa or visit visa
Friend flying in from another country The visa of their own passport

What the companion visa costs

ICP prices the companion service at three lines: AED 50, AED 100 and AED 100. That is what a Qatari host pays per driver, nanny or non-Qatari relative before any service charge (read on the ICP page in ). For a regular visitor, GDRFA lists AED 210 for a 30 day single entry tourist visa, and Dubai agencies publish about AED 340 to AED 800 for the same visa (published prices of 8 Dubai agencies, checked ).

Expats in Qatar

An Egyptian accountant or a Filipino nurse in Doha does not get the Qatari citizen rule. The GDRFA entry visa for GCC residents depends on a GCC residence permit and a profession on the UAE's approved list, decided case by case. If the profession does not qualify, a visit visa is the fallback. The full walk-through is on UAE visa for Qatar residents. If you live in the UAE and want to go the other way, see Qatar visa for UAE residents.

Qatar's missions in the UAE

Qatar's foreign ministry describes embassy services for Qatari citizens abroad: transit tickets for newborn Qataris and for those who lost a passport, new passports where a passport expired abroad, help to return home, authorisations, and support with lawyers in a legal problem. Its news pages report a Consul-General for Dubai and the Northern Emirates, whose credentials were presented to the UAE ministry's Dubai office in . The ministry's Travel Advice page gives general guidance only, and we found no UAE-specific notice on it.

If the trip turns into a longer stay

You can stay as a citizen as long as the border allows. Your companions are on a clock: 60 days listed, and ICP extends to 120 days at most. The extension fee is AED 100 plus AED 500. File before the last day, and count from arrival.

Moving the household to the UAE is a residence matter, not a visit matter. See the family visa guide for that route.

Where Qatar trips go wrong

  • A ticket booked for the nanny before the visa exists.
  • A photo on a coloured background.
  • Treating a non-Qatari spouse with a Qatar residence permit as if she were a citizen.
  • Waiting for the last day to extend.

Steps

  1. Check each passport's validity.
  2. Send us the passport pages of the non-Qatari travellers.
  3. We tell you which visa each one needs, with one total price.
  4. The team files, and you receive the visas by email.
  5. Print them and travel with the passports.

Time and refusals

ICP states 2 days for its services. Files stall on short passport validity, poor photos, and workers whose details differ from the sponsor's. Late departure carries a daily fine of AED 50.

How it works with us

Pass us the passport scans by WhatsApp or the page form. A visa adviser splits your party into citizens and people who need paper, then gives you a single price to approve. After that the team files and chases each request. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private service, not a government office. The UAE authority makes the call.

A refusal means the authority keeps its fee. The adviser puts in writing, before you pay, what share of the total would be returned, if any.

Get one total price

For a UAE visa for a non-Qatari relative, worker or Qatar resident: send the traveller's passport country, where they are now and the dates. A visa adviser replies with the right visa, the documents and one total price, fees included, before anything is filed or paid.

DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service. The authorities decide every application.

We use your details only to answer this request. See the privacy policy.

Questions people ask

Do Qataris need a visa for Dubai?

No. u.ae says GCC citizens do not need a visa to enter the UAE, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists Qatar as visa free. The u.ae page also asks for a passport valid for six months from entry, so check the expiry.

Can Qataris travel to Dubai with the Qatar ID card?

Gulf Times reported that Qatar's Ministry of Interior allowed Qatari and other GCC citizens to use ID cards for travel within the GCC from 29 April. It is a media report, so confirm at the airline desk and take the passport.

How do I get a Dubai visit visa from Qatar as an expat?

You are not covered by the citizen rule. If your Qatar residence and profession qualify, you apply for the GCC resident entry visa. Otherwise you apply for a visit visa. The Qatar residents page explains both.

Does a Qatari need a visa for a driver or nanny travelling along?

Yes, unless that person is a GCC citizen. ICP lists domestic workers among the companions of GCC citizens. The listed fees are AED 50, AED 100 and AED 100, with a 60 day stay.

Does Qatar have a consulate in Dubai?

Qatar's foreign ministry reported that its Consul-General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates presented credentials to the UAE ministry's Dubai office, some time ago. The embassy is in Abu Dhabi. Check the ministry site for current hours.

What can the Qatari embassy do if I lose my passport in the UAE?

Qatar's foreign ministry says its missions issue transit tickets to Qataris who lost passports abroad. They also issue new passports when a passport has expired abroad, and they help with authorisations and legal problems.

Is there a visa fee for Qatar to Dubai trips?

Not for a Qatari citizen. Non-Qatari companions pay ICP fees of AED 50, AED 100 and AED 100. Other visitors pay by visa type, for instance AED 210 for a 30 day GDRFA tourist visa before agency charges.
