For a holiday in Egypt, UAE residents with an eligible passport use the tourist e-Visa from visa2egypt.gov.eg. It costs USD 30 for a single entry or USD 65 for multiple entries, and Egypt asks you to apply at least 7 days before departure. One thing to know first: eligibility goes by passport. Indian and UK passports are on the list. Filipino, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan and Nepali passports are not.

The e-Visa list decides your route

Living in Dubai does not open the e-Visa to you. Egypt looks at the passport you hold.

On the e-Visa list (examples): UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, India, China, Malaysia, Singapore, the UK, the US and EU states.

Not on the list (examples): the Philippines, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal.

If you are in the second group, you apply through an Egyptian embassy or consulate, not online. Their process is separate from the portal, so start early.

Egyptian citizens living in the UAE need no visa to go home. If you are Egyptian and want family to visit you in Dubai instead, see the Dubai visa for Egyptians page.

Official e-Visa fees

e-Visa type Fee
Single entry, tourism USD 30
Multiple entries, tourism USD 65

The portal charges in US dollars. Your UAE bank card converts the amount at its own rate.

What Dubai agencies charge

Dubai visa agencies publish about AED 165 to AED 750 for an Egypt visa (published prices of 5 Dubai agencies, checked ). The low end is e-Visa help. The top of the range is one agency's service for a consulate visa, where the consulate fee is extra, so it is not a like for like price.

Single or multiple entry

Pick by your route, not by price.

  • Single, USD 30. One trip in and out. Cairo and the pyramids, a Nile cruise, a week in Hurghada or Sharm el Sheikh.
  • Multiple, USD 65. You leave Egypt and come back on the same visa. Useful if you cross to Jordan or Saudi Arabia and return, or fly home to Dubai mid-trip and go back.

If unsure, ask yourself one question: will you leave Egypt and return before the trip ends? If no, single entry is enough.

Visa on arrival: what we could not confirm

You will find sites saying that UAE residents get a visa on arrival in Egypt. The official e-Visa portal does not say so, and we found no Egyptian government page that does. We do not rely on it. If that claim turns out wrong for you, you find out at Cairo airport. The e-Visa takes the guesswork out for USD 30.

Documents for the e-Visa

  • Passport valid for the trip, with a clear scan of the photo page.
  • Personal photo as the portal asks.
  • UAE residence visa and Emirates ID, if the form asks where you live.
  • Hotel booking in Egypt.
  • Return flight to the UAE.

For a consular visa, the embassy or consulate sets its own list. Check it on their page before you go.

Processing time

Egypt asks you to apply at least 7 days before departure. Treat that as the minimum, not a promise. Before Eid and the winter school break, give it more time.

Common refusal and delay reasons

  • Applying with a passport not on the list. The portal will not issue it. You need the consular route.
  • Applying under 7 days before travel, then missing the flight.
  • Name order wrong compared with the passport machine line.
  • Scans cropped or dark, so the officer cannot read the passport number.
  • Choosing tourism for work. The e-Visa types listed are for tourism.

How it works with us

Message us on WhatsApp with your passport, Emirates ID and travel dates, or send the form on this page. A visa adviser checks your nationality against the e-Visa list. If it is there, the adviser helps you pick single or multiple entry. If it is not, you hear what the consular route involves. You get one total price before you pay. The team files the e-Visa on visa2egypt.gov.eg, follows it and sends you the approval to print. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service. Egyptian authorities decide every visa, online or at a consulate.

If Egypt refuses, the USD 30 or USD 65 is not returned by the authorities. Your adviser tells you in writing before you pay what part of our total, if any, comes back in that case.
