Embassy visa needed, we prepare your papers

Last updated

Eritrea needs a visa before you travel, and it is issued by an Eritrean embassy. The UK government's entry page says so plainly. There is no visa on arrival route in the sources we read. Read the warnings below before you book a flight.

Warnings first

The UK foreign office advises against all travel to parts of Eritrea within 25 km of the land borders. It advises against all but essential travel to the rest of the country, and says tensions with Ethiopia could worsen quickly and affect your ability to leave. Its page was updated on . Your own government may say something different, so check it.

What the embassies say

Two Eritrean embassies publish visa pages. Neither is the UAE mission, but they show what is asked.

Item Eritrean embassy, India Eritrean embassy, London
Tourist visa papers Passport copy valid 6 months, entry visa form, CV and travel history 2 photos, employment letter, passport valid 6 months, form filled at the embassy
Fee Told after approval Not in the text we read
Process Applications from named countries only By appointment

Source: the two embassy pages, checked . The India page says the visa is valid one month from entry and that business and employment visas need approval from the immigration department first. The UAE is not on its list of served countries.

Which mission takes a UAE file

The UAE foreign ministry lists the State of Eritrea among accredited missions, without a city in the text we captured. We ask the mission before we prepare anything, so you do not send passports to the wrong place.

Money and entry rules

Declare foreign cash or travellers cheques of USD 10,000 or more. On leaving, you must show that foreign currency was exchanged at Himbol, the state exchange, or spent at an official hotel. Your passport needs 6 months of validity and 2 blank pages in a row.

How it works with us

You send the passport page and tell us why you travel. An adviser confirms the mission, lists what to collect and gives one total price before you pay. We prepare the papers and track the file. We are a private visa service, and Eritrea decides every visa.

If a visa is refused, the embassy keeps its fee. Before you pay, your adviser tells you in writing what part of our total comes back, if any.
