If you live in the UAE and need a Schengen visa for Iceland, you file at a VFS Global office in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Iceland has no embassy here. The Icelandic government says the Icelandic Embassy in New Delhi decides those files. The fee is EUR 90 for adults and the usual wait is about two weeks.
Who decides your Iceland file
This is the part that confuses people. Iceland runs visa-issuing embassies in only five cities: London, New Delhi, Peking, Tokyo and Washington D.C. In about 120 other cities it asks other Schengen states to issue visas for it.
For the UAE, Iceland's list of missions gives the same answer for Abu Dhabi and for Dubai: the Icelandic Embassy in New Delhi, with a VFS Global office to receive the file. Some travel sites say Iceland files go to a Danish counter or to the Danish consulate in Dubai. Denmark does represent Iceland in some countries, South Africa for one, but the Icelandic list we read does not name Denmark for the UAE. Follow the Icelandic list and ask us if a booking page shows something else.
The centre only takes your papers and fingerprints. It does not decide. The embassy evaluates the file and issues the visa. Some files are passed to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Iceland, and then the Ministry decides.
Do you need Iceland's own visa
Only if Iceland is your main destination. Iceland says you apply to the country where you will spend the longest time, and if the stays are equal, to the country you enter first. A Schengen visa from another state is valid in Iceland for up to 90 days, so a trip that is mostly Norway, Denmark or Germany with a short Reykjavik stop belongs with that country's centre.
Your nationality decides whether a visa is needed at all. Emirati citizens are visa-free. The Schengen rules for other passports sit on the Schengen visa from Dubai page, and UAE residence alone does not remove the need.

What Dubai agencies charge
Dubai agencies publish about AED 357.50 to AED 850 for Iceland visa help (published prices of 2 Dubai agencies, checked ). The lower price covers documentation for a 30-day sticker visa. The higher one is a starting price for document preparation, a cover letter, booking help and slot booking. Read what each includes before comparing.
Documents
Iceland's page lists the passport rule and points to the embassy for the rest. These are the papers you should plan for, and the embassy can ask for more:
- Passport valid at least 3 months beyond your departure date and issued in the last 10 years.
- Visa application form and photo as the centre asks.
- Travel medical insurance. The Schengen minimum is EUR 30,000 of cover.
- Flight and accommodation bookings for the whole stay.
- Proof of funds and proof of your UAE residence and job.
- Emirates ID and residence visa copies.
Apply no sooner than six months before you travel, and leave at least 15 days.
Processing time
Iceland says the processing time is approximately two weeks if every document is in and nothing more is needed. The general EU rule is 15 days, extendable to 45. Summer is when people travel to Iceland, so file early and do not buy non-refundable tickets first.
Why Iceland files get refused or delayed
- Booking the wrong country at the centre, so the file goes to a different embassy.
- Insurance that does not cover the whole stay or the whole Schengen area.
- Hotel or tour bookings that do not match the days on your itinerary.
- A residence visa close to expiry on the day of travel.
- Thin proof of funds for the length of stay.
How it works with us
You send your passport copy and travel dates on WhatsApp or through the form on this page. A visa adviser checks that Iceland really is your main destination and which documents your case needs. You get one total price before you pay. The team books the VFS slot under Iceland, checks the file against the centre's list, and tells you when to attend for fingerprints. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service. The Icelandic Embassy in New Delhi, or the Ministry, decides the visa.
Iceland does not return its visa fee after a refusal, and the centre keeps its service charge. Before you pay, your adviser tells you in writing which part of our total, if any, comes back if the visa is refused.
