Why it goes through Switzerland
Liechtenstein has no visa office of its own in the UAE on the pages we read. The Swiss embassy's visa section names Switzerland and Liechtenstein together. Switzerland also cares for Liechtenstein citizens abroad in places without a Liechtenstein mission, since 1919.
The main destination rule
The embassy says applications that list another Schengen country as the main destination will not be accepted. If you mean a short stop in Vaduz on a trip based in Austria or Germany, file with that country instead. Check the nights before you book anything.
Residency and documents

If it is refused
You get an official letter with the reasons, and 30 days to appeal. The fee is not returned by the authorities.
