Whether a UAE resident needs a Mexico visa depends on the passport and on other visas held. Mexican consulate pages describe a visitor visa for tourism and business with no paid work, and an electronic visa for air travel. We could not open the Abu Dhabi embassy site, so this page says clearly what we read and what still needs a check.

What the Mexican visitor visa covers

The Mexican Foreign Ministry page describes a visitor visa without permission to do paid activities. It covers tourism, business meetings and studies of up to 180 days, and it covers activities where you receive no pay in Mexico. The page is in Spanish. If the plan involves a salary from a Mexican source, this is the wrong visa.

Can you skip the visa

Mexican consulate sites in several countries say that holders of a valid visa or permanent residence from the USA, Canada, Japan, the UK or a Schengen state do not need a Mexican visa for tourism, business or transit. We found that only in search results from those sites and could not open a page that states it, so treat it as reported. It is useful for a UAE resident who already holds a US visa or a Schengen visa. Check that the visa is valid on the day you fly, and ask us or the embassy before you cancel a visa plan.

The electronic visa

The electronic visa, called SAE, is for nationals of authorised nationalities who travel to Mexico by air. The consulate page we read says it does not guarantee entry and that the health and immigration authorities decide at the airport. It is applied for online, and appointments are made through the SRE system. The page does not list the nationalities and does not say whether UAE residents qualify, so this is an item to confirm before you rely on it.

The embassy in Abu Dhabi

Mexican visas for UAE residents are reported to be issued only by the Embassy of Mexico in Abu Dhabi, which is also reported to take applications from residents of the UAE and Iraq. The embassy site returned a bot check page when we tried it. Contact the embassy or ask us for the live process before you plan.

Fees

Source Fee
Consulate of Mexico in Istanbul USD 54.00, non-refundable
Consulate General of Mexico in San Diego, current sheet USD 56.00, non-refundable
Embassy of Mexico in Abu Dhabi Not read, ask the embassy

Source: the two consulate pages above, checked . The Istanbul page says payment is due before the interview. These are examples from other posts and the UAE amount may differ. We found no Dubai agency price range for Mexico, so we show none.

How a Mexican consulate runs a visa case

The San Diego sheet gives a feel for the process, and the Abu Dhabi embassy can differ. Appointments are booked online through MiConsulado at citas.sre.gob.mx. The file is reviewed at the appointment, with an interview and biometrics. The decision can take up to ten business days, the decision is final, and the consulate does not recommend buying tickets before the visa is granted. A visa is also subject to the immigration officer at the port of entry.

Documents differ by post. The San Diego and Istanbul sheets both ask for proof of enough money and set their own amounts in US dollars, so do not copy those figures for Abu Dhabi.

What can go wrong

  • Assuming a visa-free rule applies when your US or Schengen visa expires before the flight.
  • Planning paid work on a visitor visa.
  • Using figures from another consulate for savings or income proof.
  • Buying tickets before the visa is ready.
  • Skipping the appointment system and showing up without a slot.

How it works with us

You send your passport copy and a photo of any US, UK, Canada, Japan or Schengen visa you hold on WhatsApp. A visa adviser works out which route fits you and confirms the current embassy steps. You get one total price before you pay. If a visa is needed, the team prepares the document set and the appointment request. You attend the interview yourself. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service. The Embassy of Mexico decides every visa.

Mexico does not return its consular fee after a refusal. Before you pay, your adviser tells you in writing which part of our total, if any, comes back if the visa is refused.
