We file your K-ETA or consulate visa

Last updated

A South Korea visa from Dubai starts with one check: is your passport K-ETA eligible? If it is, you apply online at k-eta.go.kr for KRW 10,000, usually within 72 hours. If it is not, the Korean Consulate General in Dubai issues a visa for USD 40 single entry, in 7 calendar days, provided your UAE residence has at least 6 months left.

K-ETA or consulate visa

The consulate's own advice is simple. If you can use the K-ETA, you do not need a consulate visa. Apply online at k-eta.go.kr. The fee is KRW 10,000, which the K-ETA site puts at about USD 7 to 8, and it is generally processed within 72 hours.

If your passport is not on the K-ETA list, or your K-ETA is refused, then you apply for a short-term visa at the consulate. Your UAE residence does not move you from one route to the other. A British resident of Dubai and an Indian resident of Dubai take different paths.

Korea has also run a temporary K-ETA exemption for some passports. A notice from extended it, but we have not confirmed the country list or end date. Check the K-ETA site for your nationality before you pay.

Who can apply at the Korean consulate in Dubai

The Consulate General in Dubai accepts:

  • UAE nationals.
  • Non-UAE nationals holding a residence visa from Dubai or the Northern Emirates, valid for at least 6 months.

Residents of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain apply at the Korean Embassy in Abu Dhabi instead. Citizens of certain listed countries must also have held UAE residence continuously for the recent 2 years. If you moved to Dubai last year and your nationality is on that list, the consulate will not take your file.

What Dubai agencies charge

Dubai visa agencies publish about AED 160 to AED 1,250 for South Korea visa help (published prices of 3 Dubai agencies, checked ). The spread is very wide, and the products may not be the same: some cover a K-ETA, others a consulate visa. Ask which one a price is for.

Documents for a Korean tourist visa from Dubai

The consulate page sets the final list. Have these ready for your appointment:

  • Passport valid for the trip, plus old passports with past visas.
  • UAE residence visa with at least 6 months left, and your Emirates ID.
  • The visa application form with a recent photo.
  • Bank statements and a salary certificate or employer letter from your UAE company.
  • Flight and hotel bookings, or an invitation from a host in Korea.
  • Proof of 2 years of continuous UAE residence, if your nationality needs it.

Bring a payment card. The consulate does not take cash for visa fees.

Processing time and validity

The consulate states: "Visa processing takes 7 calendar days from the date of document submission." There is no urgent service, and your passport stays with the consulate the whole time. So do not plan any other trip abroad in that week.

If approved, the short-term visa is valid for 90 days. Book your travel inside that window.

Refusal reasons and the 90-day wait

A refused Korean visa costs you more than the fee. The consulate only accepts a new application after 90 days. That makes the first file worth getting right.

  • Residence too short. Less than 6 months left on the UAE visa at submission.
  • 2-year rule not met for the listed nationalities.
  • Wrong office. Abu Dhabi or Al Ain residence filed in Dubai.
  • Thin finances or no clear tie to your job in the UAE.
  • K-ETA refusal not explained. If your K-ETA was refused, expect questions about why.

How it works with us

Message us on WhatsApp, or use the form on this page, with your passport copy, UAE residence visa and travel dates. A visa adviser first checks if a K-ETA covers you, since that is the cheaper and faster route. If you need the consulate, the adviser checks the 6-month and 2-year rules, then gives you one total price before you pay. The team prepares the form and papers and helps you book the appointment. You attend in person and pay the fee by card. After 7 calendar days you collect your passport. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service. The Korean consulate or embassy decides.

The consulate does not refund the visa fee after a refusal. Before you pay us, your adviser confirms in writing what part of our total, if any, you get back if the visa is refused.
