Algeria issues visas to UAE residents through its embassy in Abu Dhabi and its consulate general in Dubai. Your valid UAE residence forms part of the file, along with the passport, forms, photos and a reason for the trip. We prepare the file, check each paper and tell you when to submit, because the offices take paper files at set hours.
What we could confirm, and what we could not
Algeria's foreign ministry runs a page for each mission, and both the Abu Dhabi embassy and the Dubai consulate have a visa page for foreigners. When we tried to open them, the servers refused our connection. What follows comes from the search listing of those pages, read . That is why we mark it as "reported". Check the page yourself or ask us before you submit.
Reported rules from the embassy pages
- The embassy handles tourist, business, work and other visa types.
- Files go in two full copies, well before the travel date.
- The passport needs six months of validity.
- Submission is reported as Monday to Thursday in the morning, and passport collection on set afternoons.
- Residents of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the western region are named as the embassy's applicants. Other emirates fall to the consulate general in Dubai, but we could not read its jurisdiction text.
For a tourist visa the embassy listing mentions a copy of the first two passport pages, a valid UAE residence, two copies of the application form, a company non-objection letter, two photos and either a personal invitation or a hotel booking. A business visa asks for the original invitation from the Algerian company instead. A work visa adds an employment contract and a temporary work licence.

Who needs a visa
Check your passport on the Algerian foreign ministry site. We have not confirmed a visa-free list for Algeria, so do not assume your passport is exempt because you live in the UAE. Residence in the UAE is something the embassy asks to see. It does not replace the visa. If you hold an Indian, Filipino, Egyptian, Bangladeshi, Nepali, Sri Lankan, Nigerian or Kenyan passport, send us a copy and we check the position with the office before you travel.
Before you book flights
Treat the visa as the first step, not the last. Offices that take paper files at set hours can have queues, and a missing letter means a second trip. Ask for the visa type that matches your reason for travel: a tourist file wants an invitation or hotel booking, a business file wants the Algerian company's original invitation. Mixing the two is a common reason for a file to come back. Book flights with free changes until the visa sits in the passport, and keep the file copies, because the office may ask for them again.
Algerians living in the UAE
The UAE foreign ministry lists Algeria as visa required before travel for entry into the UAE. If you are an Algerian resident inviting family, see the Dubai visa by nationality list, and ask us about the visit visa for relatives. Relatives must hold the visa before they board.

- A residence permit close to expiry.
- The company letter missing or without a stamp.
- No invitation or hotel booking for a tourist file.
- A passport with under six months left.
- Handing in a single copy when two are asked for.
